TO EJECT SETTLERS
IN COTTON ADDITION
Judgment of State Court of
1904 to.x13e JPiit xnio
Execution.
In the district court representatives of
the Cotton estate have asked for writs
of ejectment of land claimants in Whs
Cotton addition in accordance "with a
iudnrncnfc of the state court of 1904. By
this iudqmpnt the Cotton estate was
riven title to deputed Chamizal prop
erty in that district of the city.
Bv agreement of bobh parties at the
time the judgment was issued m 1904,
the issuance of the writs of ejectment
was suspended until the settlement of
the Chamizal case in the tederal court,
but the Cotton estate has flow asked
the state court to fiecu ciaraiaiiw um
the addition in accordance with the judg-
mResidents04in the disputed territory
heard of this action last week and reg
istered protests with the Mexican state
department and in turn the state de
partment of the United States had its
attention called to the proposed action.
More than 50. ejectments will be Issued
it is said. The scare cepartment has
taken no action and will probably not
take any, as the action of the state
court would have no effect in case of a
settlement favorable to Mexico and
the claimants under the Chamizal title.
The Paul Suit.
The injunction secured ugainst the
city by George Paul restraining it from
holding possession of property recently
acquired for garbage and sewage dis
posal plants will come up In the 41st

Members of the committee expressed
disgust at Mr. Dodge's revelations.
He related an incident of one visit to
a fashionable "Washington (market where
he found a quarter of a beef, black and
apparently unfit for food. He condemned
it and was about to pour kerosene over
it, when the proprietor interfered and
told him he had many wealthy customers
who always ordered from such a piece
of meat because it was tender.
While the Inspector was present a
footman from a wealthy family came in
and ordered a cut from the piece which
he had condemned.
"Gratifications of canine appetites,"
commented representative Johnson, of
Kentucky, who asked the inspector if
this class of meat was kept in the came
coolers with beef intended for 'civilized
people."
The inspector said it was.
like two one-cent stamps together it
was not easy for distributors of mail to
distinguish the special deliveries, and
the government discarded it
The El Paso postoffice had a supply
of the old stamps in the postoffice
vault and continued to use the blue
stamps while the green stamps were
out, and (the blue stamp is again in
use.
