"fact tha"t the 'speaker of 'the evening. Dr.
Mitchell, of Mesilia, Park, did not come.
The persons, in attendance stayed un
til half an hour after the appointed
time and then went home. It is not
known why Dr. Mitchell did not come
to deliver the talk.
Next week's baseball games -will be
ployed against the School of Mines in
Socorro. There will be a single game
on Friday afternoon and a double
header on Saturday.
General assembly was held on Wed
nesday instead of the usual time on
Thursday so that the students might
have a chance of hearing professor
Monagha-a speak; Professor Monaghan
will deliver an address in the Armory
in Las Cruces tonight, to which a gen
eral Invitation has been issued to the
faculty, students and their friends.

There has never been any question of
Beveridge's courage, nor of his integ-J

by voting for the tariff bill, even after
he had opposed it up to the last ditch.
He might have secured the aid of pow
erful influences toward his reelection.
Instead, he voted against the bill and
now goes to -his state for justification
and Indorsement. So far as being the
unanimous choice of his party for sen-
