A. Davidson, an engineer at the Czar
shaft of the Copper Queen -was bend
ing' over the gearing of his hoist, which
was in motion, his jumper became en
tangled in the "wheels and his body was
rapidly drawn toward the cogs. His
screams attracted the attention of Mr.
Moon and the big engine was stopped
just in time to prevent the engineer
being ground to death. When Mr. Da
vidson wa-s rescued it was found that
his breast was torn and several mus- J
j cles and tendons were, severed. Though
there is no danger of death, he will
not be able to work for a long time.

clfic coast region north of San Fran
cisco, as well as many less important
one-night stands. Seattle, Portland and
Tacoma are among the larger places in I

cutting loose from Cort and Intend to
book the Cort houses independently,
taking up their negotiations with each
manager separately, their cancelation
of the Cort contracy will mean the
routeing of almost all shows to the Pa
cific coast through El Paso and back
through Denver, or vice versa. In the
past most of the shows have been routed
out through Corfs Northwestern terri
tory and back through Denver and Salt
Liake or vice versa, leaving only a few
to come down through El Paso.
