Frank Berryhill and Deacon Jones,
of Ardmore, Okla., were here Tuesday
as the guests of Mr. Berryhill's brother,
C. r. Berryhill, of Eat El Pa:o. They
tv ere en route to the big fight at Reno
and stopped off here to visit Mr. Berry
hill's brother nd to see El Paso for
the first time.
ABOUT RAILROAD PEOPLE.
W. H. Whalen, superintendent of the
Tucson division of the Southern Pacific,
was in El Paso Thursday, arriving on
a special train in the car "San Carlos."
H. T. Etheridge, opeartor in the of
fice of the G. H. train dispatcher, re
turned Thursday from a leave of ab
sence spent at Fort "Worth. W. A.
Roberts, operator, will leave for a va
cation upon Mr. Etheridge's return to

Master mechanic F. L. Carson, of the
Mexican National Railways, of Chihua
hua, was in the city Wednesday, re
turning to Chihuahua in the af
ternoon with superintendent D. F.

The regular train of the Mexican Na
tional railways, due in El Paso at 7:25
a, m., is stranded south of Peronal.
476 miles south of El Paso and 251
-miles south of Chihuahua, on account
of a washout between Peronal and Pa
lacio. The recent heavy rains have
made the ground very soft along the
line, making travel difficult.
A stub train was sent out from Chi
huahua, arriving in El Paso Thursday
morning at 10 oclock.

TOMBSTONE LOSES RAILWAY
AND MINE COMPANY OFFICES.
Tombstone, Ariz., June 30. Notice
has been given ofthe removal of the
general offices of the Imperial Copper
company, the Southern Arizona Smelt
ing company, and the Arizona Southern
Railroad company from Tombstone to
Silver Bell, under the authority of the
directors and president Frank M. Mur
phy, of the companies. The transfer
will be made on July 1.
The change is to be made, it is
stated, for reasons of economy in the
handling of the clerical forces. The
building of the Port Lobos railroad
will necessitate large additions to the
force of clerks and the offices of the
railroad company will necessarily be
at the proposed northern terminus. It j
is considered that it will be more ad
vantageous to have the forces concen
trated than divided between Tombstone

HELD FOR FEDERAL GRAND JURY
OX OPIUM POSSESSION CHARGE.
Clement Cosby, who was arrested by
customs officers at a local hotel on
the charge of having smuggled opium
in his possession, was given a hearing
before United States commissioner
George B. Oliver "Wednesday, and held
to the federal grand jury under a bond
of $400. Cosby arrived in the city
from Arizona Sunday, and stopped at a
local hotel. His arrest aud the search
of his baggage followed. -
