THE CHARTER. OF THE CITY OF
EL PASO.
Notice is hereby given that It is the
intention of the city of El Paso. El Paso
county, Texas, in its corporate capacity,
and of citizens thereof, to a'iv j0 tne
legislature of the state of Texas, to
amend the charter of said city in the
following particulars among others, to
wit: By making city taxes become delin
quent on the 31st day of July of each
year.
By enlarging the city limits by in
cluding therein the entire addition of
Highland Park, all of Military Heights
addition, south of McKinney street.
Grand View addition. south of
McKInley street. all of Altura
Park addition, all of Govern
ment Hill addition, all of East El Paso
addition, all of French addition, all of
Lincoln Park addition, all of Tobin's
second addition, all of Orchard Park ad
dition, all of Val Verde addition and
all territory lying south of the county
road immediately east of Hadlock's and
south to the river.
By Incorporating the principles of
both the referendum and the recall in
the city charter.
By entrusting the control of the pub
lic schools of the city of EI Paso to
the city council under the crrect super
vision of the mayor.
Bv increasing the salary of the mayor
of the city of El Paso.
By providing more efficient means
for collecting -sums due the city of El
Paso, especially by delinquent taxpay
ers and persons liable for assessments
for public improvements.
By changing the time of the city elec
tion. By such other amendments as will
make the government or tho --Mty of El
Paso more completely what is known
as the commission form ol municipal
government.
Such application will be made to the
legislature at Its special session in July
next, and the governor of the state of
Texas will be requested to call the at
tention of the legislature in the consti
tutional manner to the advisability of
so amending the city charter.

That the City Clerk be and hereby
is directed to advertise for bids for the
construction of a pavement on North
Campbell street from the north prop-
erty line of Franklin street to the
south property line of Hill street.
Said pavement in all respects to con
form with the specifications therefor
prepared by the City Engineer, and
now on file in his office which said
specifications have been approved by
this council. Said advertisement shall
appear in each Issue of the official
paper which appears during the 10
days prior to July 14th, 1910.
All bids must be sealed and each be
accompanied by a certified check in the
sum of $1000, payable to the Mayor of
the City of El Paso, which shall be
come the property of the city in the
event that the bidder. If successful.
