Alpine. Texas, July 23. Word has
been received in Alpine that, the Kansas
City, Mexico & Orient railroad will at
once begin work on the road from tflie
Mexiean side. The work has already
been started on the end north of Aipinc.
A telegram was received here announc
ing the death of Joe Hanmnn at the
Austin insane asykim. The body was
shipped to Alpine and was buried at the

resident oi Brewster county for several 1
years and is survived by a wife, two
small daughters and a father, all residing
in this county.
J. S, Barnhart, an old Alpine citizen,
died at his home in the eastern part of
town. He is survived by j wife and
s?vera lcliildren. four of whom were
at his bedside at the time of his death.
The body was laid to rest in the Alpine
cemetery.
The Texas Dry Farming congress,
will be entertained by Eagle Pass on
August 17, 18 and 19. will" be attended
by a large delegation from Alpine. The
congress met here in 1909.

but now a Fort Stockton druggist, "vis
ited in Alpine.
