1910, by national authority, has been
made a holiday, known as Labor day,
in recognition of those whose toll and
skill Is the foundation of all society
and civilization: and,
"Whereas. No city is more indebted
to Its workers than one which, like
El Paso, Is growing visibly under
their hands and everywhere displaying
evidences of Industry.
"Therefore. In honor of that day all
municipal offices will be closed there
on and all employes of the city other
than policemen and firemen are re
lieved from duty during the same. All
employers of labor In El Paso are ur
gently requested to imitate municipal
example, and grant their employes a
holiday during the day so set aside by
congress in its honor.
