Brady, a well known business man of
Houston, was crushed to death yester
day when his automobile overturned.

Sick Woman on Train.
Mrs. TV. H. Cooper, of Houston, Tex.,
was taken from G. H. train No. 9
Thursday morning, visibly suffering
from an Illness and carried to the
county hospital. Depot authorities im
mediately telegraphed her husband in
Houston. On the trip she was seen to
open her purse and throw a number of
articles from the car window, and It
is possible that money, which she is
known to have had, went that way, as
she had none when she -got here. She
said she was coming to El Paso to es
tablish a millinery store.

ceived here from Cananea, Sonor.i,
Mexico, says that the body of former
governor Rafael Ysabel, of Sonora, bos
been stolen. Governor Tsabel died re
cently wliile returning from Eurdpe,
and tne body was burled last week at
Hermosillo.

Tucumcari, N. M., Nov. 3. Frank
Perry, a private soldier of the local
company, L, of the New Mexico na
tional guard,' was arrested on com
plaint of Capt.'Otto F. Edler. and fined
?50 in justice Winter's court, on the
charge of appropriating certain zoods
belonging to the company, the ca-9
ciied, being the alleged taking of a
Colt's army revolver, which it is. claim
ed, Perry pawned and afterward sold
to a man in the country.
BOGUS $50 BILL
DECEIVES BANKER
Fifty-dollar pasters over $1 vignettes
made a $1 bill look so much like a ?50x
bill that a teller in an El Paso bank
accepted it at its bogus face value.
The bill was In a bunch .with many
others, it was handled and counted by
corners and ends only, and its bad
character was not discovered until too
late to trace and rectify the error.
The change was made in the ,same
old way by pasting on parts of rigar
box stamps. The United States gov
ernment is old enough and b!g en-jugh
to know better, but it still makes its ci
gar box stamps in such a way that both
the black and 'een sides are readily
used in marking up small currency, j
and Uncle Sam also allows currency
to remain In circulation so long that It
becomes greatly ieface and alteration
Is easy.
This particular fraud h.; the eagle
and the small lettering "One silver dol
lar" on its face unchange-1, but the
large 31 designations are covered
by skilfully cut and pasted "$50's" j
out of cierar box stamps. "U S"
monograms, and engraved tracery from
the same familiar source.

while returning from Alamo, lost his
way and laid out all night. While lie
was asleep his horse stepped on him
and cut4 his head so that Dr. Haxby,
of Cloudcroft, had to take t;hree i-titch-es
in it. Mr. Haggard is a teacher
at Lower Penasco school and had been
to Alamo to be examined for forest
ranger service.
John Pasey is moving his family
