Thanks to Captain.
"Washington, V. C, July 2. The
thanks of congress are conveyed
to Capt. Arthur H. Rostron and the of
ficers and crew of the liner Carpathia
for their rescue of 704 survivors of the
Titanic, in a senate bill passed by the
house yesterday. The measure now poes
to president Taft for signature. The
bill provides for a SlOOfl gold medal for
Capt. Rostron.
To Stop Shipment of Prize Fljrht Flints.
The passage of a bill which would
prohibit interstate shipment of prize
fight moving picture films was blocked
in the house vesterday. Representa
tive Sims, of Tennessee, Democrat, J
sougnt immediately io pass me meas
ure, explaining that the Johnson
Flynn tight was scheduled for July 4
and ho hoped the picture films might be
barred from leaving New Mexico. On
a point of ofder that a quorum was not
present, the house despite Mr. Slma's
vehement protests, adjourned.
The house yesterday adopted a reso
lution appropriating $1,350,000 to pro
vide for the participating of the regu
lar army in the encampment and man
euvers of theorganized militia of the
several states.

one hundred million dollars in each cash
drawer of the treasury, officials today
expressed the belief that it will not be
necessary to issue additional bonds for
the construction of the Panama canal
