Sugar Again Shows Weak
ness Among Special
ties in Stocks.
New York. N. Y., Nov. 7. Stocks
were somewhat irregular today, a con
dition creditable In pact to further
realizing -for profits. In the first two
hours bamMfe large enough to
be iiiiji,B ! isj'lii from its obviously
prof essoWT iBWln, although commis
sion houses 'Mrted some increase of
public lutwnM:
Activity wf restricted to the usual
favorites, but St Paul led all with a
rise of 2 points. Hill issues were
sluggish, while Harrimans, especially
Union Pacific added to yesterday's
gains Coalers were steady and Steel
was under some restraint but Amal
gamated held over yesterday's advance.
Sugar was again the weaker of the
specialties
' Bonds were firm.
Prices -again receded when profit
taking commenced in St Paul. That
stock rejtcted a point and there was
further pressure against Steel and
Reading, .
Heavy offerings of Reading at reces
sions, a sharp break in cotton oil on
failure of an expected dividend and a
further rise In Sears-Roebuck were
features of the late trading.
The market closed irregular. Buy
ing of St Paul, which made its best
price of the day, checked the moderate
decline, but the raHy was feeble, and
the undertone uncertain.
