Coat shares, particularly Lehigh Valley, were havy; The street kept in close touch with Washington news, owing to the chance that the supreme court might hand down its decision in the Minnesota rate .case. Bonds were easy. Further postponement by the su preme court of the long waiting de cision in the Minnesota rate case was regarded unfavorably and followed by active selling for both accounts. There was also liquidation in the telephone and telegraph stocks on reports that an investigation would be made of re cent combinations. Losses ranged around a point in most of -the active stocks. Lehigh Valley and Lead yielded 3. American Telephone 2. Canadian Pacific and Union Pacific 2 and Amalgamated two points. Unrestrained liquidation in the metal stocks produced a general feeling of pessimism and the whole market suf fered from a series of bear drives. United States Steel sold to.. 64, the lowest in a long time, and some of the important railroad stocks were down several points. Lead lost 54, Lehigh Valley four 'and Amalgamated three points. The market closed weak. Liquida tion increased and acute weakness was visible in all quarters of the list Lack of support for market leaders, especi ally Steel, encouraged the weakness and there was a considerable shaking out of weakly margined accounts. Losses ranged from one to five points. with the copper group displaying the most weakness. MONEY AND METALS NEW YORK MARKET. (By Associated Press.) New York, N. Y Jan. 13.
