• JINXKD? NIXIE! •
"Jinxed!" growled the Loyal
Fan, as he surged In the mael
tsrom of fans seeking to get out
of Athletic park upon the close of
the first game of the season. "I
know when that pretty girl threw
the first ball that—"
"O, garbage, signifying rub
bish,' retorted the Redhot Root
er, "or, as a Vancouverite would
say, beastly rot, old top, y'know."
"Those Tigers were jinxed and
you know it," said the Loyal Fan,
gloomily.
"Aw, get a chimneyweep—your
flue Is dusty," uttered the Redhot
Rooter. "The Idea of trying to
shift the blame that way. One
word more and I kick in your
Lima. Follow me?"
"It was a hard game to lose.
Cruel Mr. Clarke!"
"Say, I'll bet you he's a hasher
In the off season. He is certainly
there on the waiting stunt."
"Such names as they hare on
that team," observed the Loyal
Fan. "Sepulvade, Demaggio,
Sacramento, Californlo, etc."
"And Klpperfs bally roller
Jolly well fixed us, I fawncy," re
marked the Redhot Rooter.
"And think of Schmutz wasting
a two-badger. Ach. Gott!"' -
■ ■ "Do the Llmbnrger, Augusta,"
advised the Redhot Rooter. "We
lost. Why aggravate further?
There is only one thing I'm sure
of. I'll never bring my auto to
the ball; park."
"Never is right. I agree with
you there," grinned the Loyal Fan
meaningly. And Just then a car
luckily came along.. -*•
