grandstand.
At 3:40 Thursday the time ex
pired ln which the T. R. A P. waa
to answer whether It would ac
cept the offer of the council on

The ultimatum waa treated

,been made, according to the
mayor.

SCHMIDT IS
FOUND GUILTY
NEW YORK, Feb. 6.—After
deliberating almost five hours,
the second Jury to try "Father"
Hans Schmidt returned a verdict
last evening convicting the al
leged priest of having murdered
Anna Anmuller, the girl whom he
made his wife through a self
conducted marriage ceremony.
Schmidt will be sentenced to
death next Wednesday. The sham
priest still assert* that he Is
guilty, and that he wants to die. -
He declared last night that he
would resist any effort to drag
out the case longer, and begged
that his execution be fixed for as
early a date as possible.
