Williams, who died Wednesday as the result of an injury received Sunday on |he street railway. Miss Driggs boarded with the Judge and Mrs. Williams while attending school in Bellingbam during the past year. He was one of the oldest and beat known citizens of Bellingham and was a most upright and honorable man, highly esteemed by all who knew him. Capt. J. W. Tarte, deputy fish commissioner, was here Thursday in the fish commission steamer Bessie in which be is making a tour of the fishing grounds checking up trap and seine licenses. He says some fairly good catches of aoekeye salmon hare been made within the past few days, especially along the west shore of Whidby island. Be thinks that the sockeyes which are "showing up" there were hatched in the Baker lake hatchery, whereas most of that variety found in the waters of this county are headed for the Prazer river. The big P. A .P. caunery is the only one which is being operated at Beliingham this year. \ Telephone connection with the United Wireless station on Bald bill is now established. . The new band expects to begin practicing within a day ur two under the leadership of Van E. Sargent.
