The remains of Miss Maude Elliott of Walla Walla, who was visiting at Heppner and lost her life in the flood, will be returned to this city for inter ment. The body was shipped from Heppner last night and is expected to arrive here tomorrow morning. Miss Elliott's death is unusually sad. For several months prior to leaving Walla Walla she had taken care of three lit tle orphan nephews and nieces, chil dren of her dead sister. She left Wal la Walla to go to Heppner to care for \ brother-in-law who was ill with con sumption. He with his wife and two children were also swept away in the tlood. Misses Josie and Arlotte. arc in the city to meet the body, which will be taken to Cookerly's undertaking par lors. The funeral will probably take place from there. TO LOOK FOR RELATIVES. C. F. Royse of Heppner Left Walla Walla Today. Just Hearing of the Awful Calamity Yesterday. Nearly driven to distraction by the awful Bood ai Heppner which he learn ed of yesterday for the first time at Dayton. C. F. Royce, who has many relatives and friends in the ill-fated town, left for the scene this morning. D. V. Reed and family, relatives of Mr. Royce. reside at Heppner and he has heard nothing from them. He fears they are dead and also fears that his mother was visiting there at the time.
