Rebate was granted S. V. Hunt on
taxes of 1909, covering tract in 21
--13-45, on account of error in issu
ance of tax receipt.
Personal tax of $6.71 on double
-ment against W. D. Mitchell for
1910 was ordered cancelled.
Personal taxes amounting to $41.99
against First Bank of LaCrosse was
ordered refunded on account of cleri
cal error in assessment.
City tax of $13.20 was ordered re
funded to Leonard Hegnauer on ac
count of erroneous assessment of
tract in city limits of Pullman.
City tax of $4.35 was ordered can
celled on tract assessed to W. W.
Cragg at Farmington, it appearing
that the tract is outside city limits.

Road Matters
Hearing in the matter of the peti
tion for the Kelson change in the
Freels road was set for June 5, 1911,
at 1 1 o'clock a. m.

set for June 6, 1911, at 2 o'clock
p. m.
A petition for a road to be known
as Scott Bros.' change in the G. N.
Clark road was referred to the
county engineer.
Hearing in the matter of the Col
yar road was continued to June sth,
191 1. at 2 o'clock p. m.
Hearing in the matter of the Ter
rill change in the Hughes road was
continued to May 15, 1911, at 2
o'clock p. m.
Hearing continued in the matter
of the D. F. Engle road to June 6,

Hearing in the matter of Howard

The matter of the Smith and
Leveque road came on for hearing
and after due consideration was re

The Strachan road was ordered
established and damages amounting
to $934.15 awarded.
The Gillespie change in the Glunk
road was ordered established.
The prosecuting attorney was di
rected to begin condemnation pro
ceedings for right of way in the
Rock Lake road.
Petition for the improvement of
one mile of the Colfax and Palouse
City road under Chapter 235, Laws
of 1911, was approved and the nec
essary resolution adopted.
The State Highway Commission
er's approval of the resolution to im
prove the G. X. Clark road was re
ceived and filed.
The board ordered the opening of
.Spencer street in the town of Thorn
ton.
The application of the 0.-W. R. &
X. Co. for the passage of the county
road under its bridge at Hooper was
approved, provided a clearance of not
less than 1 3 feet was made.
The board approved the plans and
spei jfications adopted by the engi
neers of Adams and Whitman coun
ties for the joint construction of a
bridge at Palouse Falls and agreed
to assume half the expense of the
construction of said bridge.
The county engineer reported ad
versely on the Ransier change in the
Kelley road and the petition was re
jected by the board and the cost of
the survey ordered to be charged to
the bondsmen.
Miscellaneous
The petition of residents of Mat
lock school district asking that live
stock be prohibited from running at
large in said district was set Cor
heaiing June ."., 1911, at 3 o'clock
p m.
The resignation of Joseph Mac-
Eachern, justice of the peace of Pre
cinct No. 40, was accepted and F. A.
Davis appointed in his stead.
The county printing for the year
July 1, 911, to June 30, 1912, was
awarded to the Colfax Gazette at the
rate of '!'< cents per inch, matter to
be set in nonpareil, solid, column
wide.
The applicaton of M. S. Old for
renewal of license to operate a ferry
at Wawawai was granted.
The bond of Th<* Riveria Co. for
operating a ferry at Riveria was ap
proved.
The petition of Charles Shephard
for license to operate a pool table at
Texas City was rejected.
The agreement of the Farmers &
Merchants State Bank, Maiden, as to
the payment of interest on county de
posits was approved.
The report of the county superin
tendent on the expenditure of the ap
propriation granted for the use of the
county institute was approved.
The report of the county auditor
on the expenditure of the appropria
tion of $10<i for incidental expenses
v, as approved.
The report of the superintendent
of the county farm for the month of
April was approved.
An order of the State Railroad'
Commission which modifies an order \
previously made concerning the
crossing of the county road between 1
the towns of Hay and Canyon, at
grade, was examined and filed.
The application of Pacific Tele-;
phone and Telegraph Co. to connect
its wires with the court house by an
underground conduit was granted.
The quarterly report of the county
treasurer for the quarter ending
March 31, 1911, together with the
report of the auditor's checking clerk
were examined and approved.
The auditor's certified list of sal-
ary warrants for the month of April
was approved.
The county engineer, upon his peti
tion, was granted one additional of
fice assistant for one month.
The board adjourned to meet May
jo, 1911, at 10 o'clock a. m.

Resolution.
Resolution of i«tantion of the city of Colfax
Washington, to construct a Bubs«wer on Dean
way and Last st-eet, between the north aide
ot lot B in block 26, and the center of Perkins
avenue.
Be it resolved by the city council of the c ty
of Lo;fax, Washington, that it is the inten
tion of said city to construct a subsewer from
the north line of lot 3, in block X, thence
north to the center of Last street, thence east
to the center of Perkin* avenue, and there
connecting with the main fewer of said city.
Maid sewer to be constructed of « inch, salt
glazed, vltntied sewerpipe, provided with wye
connections for 4-inch laterals for each lot in
the aubaewer district herein described, and to
be constructed according to the plans and
specifications prepared by the city engineer
and adopted by the council, and to be kept of
hie in the office of the city clerk. Said sewer
to be completed within thirty days after con
tract is entered into and a bond given by the
contractor to said city to insure the comple
tion of said work.
That the estimated cost of said imp-ove
ment is $126 45 and that the cost and expense
of constructing the same, including the cost of
the publication of th s resolution, necessary
engineering expense and other and incidental
expenses, including all legal publications
therefor, the cost of legalizing the assessment
th°refor, to be assessed to and levied upon the
following lots: Lots 1, 22, 3, in block 2ti, and
all lots on tbe west side of Dean way lying and
being north of the north line of lot S, in block
Be it further resolved that any person de
siring to protest against said improvement
may tile such protect with Howard Bramwell,
city clerk, at his office in the Pioneer building
on or before Monday, the 15th day of May,
1911, or at the city hall at the hour of eight
o clock of said day, at which time and place
any protest or protests will be considered by
s»id council and a hearing had on this resolu
tion.
Be it further resolved that the city clerk
cause a copy of this resolution to be published
in the Colfax Gazette, the city paper, for two
consecutive issnes thereof before the said 15th
day of May, 1911.

ministrator ol the estate of Adolph Urob, de
ceased, has rendered and presented for settle
ment and filed in said court his final account
of his administration of said estate, and that
Saturday, the 20th day of May, 1911, at the hour
of 10 o'clock a. in., of said day at the court room
of said court, in the city of C'olfax, Whitman
