We knew that wo had. since the breaking out of the rebelliop,Jporsued a course diffrent jn politics, from that pursued by a majority of the honorable members of the board of County Commissioners of Goodhue Counly which we claim i* quite as Republican, and much more patriotic and man)} but it never once entered our mind that the honorable gentleman aforesaid, had or would, or could, arrogate to themselves the right to sit in judgment on our political actions or belief and we had altogether too much charity for human nature, though equentty exhibited in its worst forms o[ depravity, to harbor for an instant the thought, that we had, by ad vocating a policy which we ardently cher ish, brought upon ourself the condemnation of the mighty powers that be, towif, the aforesaid board of County Commissioners. In the simplicity of our soul, we thought the gentlemen composing that board were elected to attend to the UmpvjaL interests ol the county but it turns out that they think they were elected to watch over the moral developments of certain individuals: to build .up the interests of a certain political party: to provide ways and means of giving hread and butter to political favorites, and of giv ing the breath of existence to party organs at the expense o/ tlio county, for whose benefit we had foolishly supposed they were especially appointed to labor. A more disgusting farce was never enac ted, than that by which the board of Coun ty Commissioners, at their late session.earn- own responsibility, to instigate Mr. Little We propose now to lay before our reader* a statement of one of the most dastardly transactions that has ever been perpetuated by any body of men entrusted with the public interests, within our recollection. On the last day of the session of the board, we were at the Court House, attending to private business at the Clerk's t-flice. llav ing finished up our business, oui of curiosity, mute thanjroni any other motive, we stepped into the Commissioner's Court. For a less figure than that, a fair return for bis labor could not be had, and the paper taking the job would not be bene fitted by it. But at that remark the other mem berg opened their eyes, and declared that they had never heard of any such motion whereupon the member from Can non Falls was obliged to confess that he had prostituted his offce by sneaking of£ on his field to make an ass of himself. Now we understand the member thinks we manifested a bad spirit.' But we can assure him that our spirit is just bad enough to defeat any such miserable at tempt as he then and there made to prosti tute his manhood.
