Victor Hugos's Contribution. Victor Hugo presented to the New York Sanitary Fair a drawing, executed by him self, of the residence of Franklin when in France. Accompanying the picture is lb.-' following note: "In 1856 I happened to be one day at Pas sy, at M: Raynoward's, the author of the tragedy of the Nights Templar. He wore his white hair streaming on his shoulders, and I said to him: You wear your hair as Franklin used, and you look like him.' He said to me smiling: This may come from the neighborhood/ and he pointed to a house that could be seen from his garden. "It is there," said he to me, there Franklin lived in 17I8«» I drew that house, now pulled down. This is the sketch. I believe that this pic ture of the house of Franklin, at Passy, is the only one in existsnee. I offer it to the United States Sanitary Commission. I am happy that the Sanitary Uommi sion have done me the honor te call upen me, and afford ms an eppurtunity to renew the expression of my heartfelt sympthy for the gallent men who are struggling so glor iously to rid the great American Republic of that sinful system, slavery.
