Andrew Rinke moved his stock of clothing from the Madsen building to the Lemke building adjoining his gen eral store which gives him much nicer quarters to display his large stock 'of clothing. The Masons had a social time Wed nesday evening. Several of the New Ulmites were up to take part in the doings. A son of Mr. Bletner is very sick and his recovery is doubtful. Died—Mr3. JLasleben on Sunday, of dropsy. She had been sick for a Ions time and her death was not unexpect ed. A little son of Mr. Wm. Strassburg died also on Sunday last. The bereaved have our heartfelt sympathy in their sad affliction. Thursday morning about 2 30 A. M. our people were awakened by ths fire alarm. A lire had broken ont in a small building belonging to Mr. Strange on Main Str. and the fire was under such headway when discovered, that it was useless to try to save the building. The family barely escaped. It is sup posed the tire started from a defective flue. There was a small insurance on the building but not enough to cover the loss. 'The bedding and furniture was a total loss. Sheriff Schmidt was in the city on Saturday. Mr. D. L. Bushand Lady of Austin, spent Sunday iu.-'»ur city the guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. Sangs." Mr. Bush is supt.of the Milwaukee Road with head quarters at Austin. They left for their home Monday morning. Senator Bowen spent Sunday with his family and returned to the Saintly City Monday.morning. Mr. C. Arvesen, our popular Jewe ler, returned from the Twin Cities, Wednesday evening well pleased with his trip. A new time card went into effect Sunday, which brines the morning pas senger from the West in here about thirty minutes later. Meeting of Wesley Greene Post No. 71 next Saturday afternoon. Boys turn out. Rev. Arndt from Lamberton filled the pulpit in the Evangelical church last Sunday. He spoke to a crowded house. Asst. Supt. Stewart from- Tracy was in town last Weduesday. Miss Nettie Gillman is reported very sick, at her home in Iberia. Scarlet fever is supposed to be her sickness. West Sewton Gleanings Wna. Monnan had his face!*" badly biuised in a runaway last week Mon day. f^The dance at Vincenz Bruuner's was well attended, last week and a good time was had by those present. The police attempted to quell the riot and a collision occurred in which 30 persons, mostly policemen, were injured. It is expected that fur ther rioting will occur during the night. Schrader is on the sick list. We hope she will meet a speedy recovery A social hop was given by Mr. Franz Brix on Sunday night last. A high time is reported by all who participated in the dance. Mr. Chas. Grosklas visited his parents at Fairfax on Sunday last. Mr. Fred KU*ssner got his hand hurt by failing on the ice. A new boardu- arrived at the family of Chas Muelbauer last week. It is a boy. Cigars Chas. Mr. George Guargis-berg is hauling lumber for a new barn. Mr. Wm. Mueller, our genial peda guoge, is the owner of a lame horse. We would advise him to walk when "making astronomical observations. Little Freddy Klossner is sick with the lung fever. We hope lie may re cover soon.' Mr. John Traurisr bought his seed wheat at Springfield and brought it home last week. Mr. John Boock and wife and Christ Appell and wife spent Sunday at Gib bon. Mr. Conrad Dirks and Augusta Getch were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Schrader on Sunday last. The attendence in Sdhool Dis. 53 is very small at present.
