Frazier Hay, a well known young
delivcryman of thin city experienced
Bjme thrilling sensations Sunday that
he is not likely soon to forget. He
was with a party fishing nt Brock
myer's pond, and when the time came
to depart, Frazicr was dispatched to
the pasture to bring in the team.
After a tedious search he finally
found the horses, but discovered that
both had lost their bridles. lie dis-
displayrd courage to mount what he
thought was the gentle one, intending
to drive the mate in ahead of him.
He was not long in discovering his
mistake in his selection, and the ap
parently passive steed developed some
j energetic tendencies cpiitc unexpected,
which for a short time seemed to
I threaten a disastrous ending to the
day of pleasure. With a sudden
, short and loud whinny the aroused
beast bounded down the hill at a
break neck pace, jumping the ditches
j stiff legucd, and occasionally turning
a Mtncrsnilt, through till of which
the rider kept his seat, but loudly
: proclaimed his desire for assistance.

I only succeeded in turning horse and
I rider into the low overhauling limbs
'of a large thorny locust tree, where
the frightened young man was al
most dragged oil', but finally succeed
ed in restoring his equilibrium, when

' lield again, making a large criele,
covering the same ground already
gone over, and finally returning to
the spot where the frightened com
panions had gathered. The horse
was captured and the young man
! taken from his perilous position,

Monday morning he was sufficiently
recovered to resume his labors, but
at this time it is said he is- still
very nervous and shows visible effects
of the trying ordeal through which
he was forced to undergo.

her attorney, J. II. Doris, before the
e'erk of the Cape Girardeau, Court
of Common l'leas, in vacation, and
files her petition and affidavit al
leging among other things, that the
defendant, James Dame is not a
resident of the state of Missouri, and
cannot be served with process in this
state, whereupon it is ordered by the
clerk of said court; that said defen
dant be notified by publication, that
plaintiff has commenced a suit against
him in this court, the object und na
ture of which is to obtain a decree of
divorce from the bonds of matrimony
contracted between plaintiff and de
fendant, on the grounds of desertion
and that unless said defendant,
James Dame, be and appear at this
court at the next term thereof, to
be begun and holden at the court
house in the city of Cape (iirardeau,
in said coiintv, on the 25th day of
May, l'Jll, and on or before the 4th
day of the term, if the term shall
so long continue, if not, then on or
before the last day of said term,

said cause, the same will be taken

duly verified by affidavit wherein
said plaintiff alleges that defendant
is the lawful owner of an undivided
one-third of the following described
real estate in the city and county of
Cape Girardeau in the State of Mis
souri, to-wit: Lots twenty three (23)

in the eaid city of Cape Girardeau,
in said County of Cape Girardeau,
State of Missouri, which eaid two
lots front one hundred and fifty

abadoned her, and for more than
two years last past has utterly failed
to provide for plaintiff a home,
food and clothing, or with money
to provide herself with same; that the
object and purpose of said suit is to
compel said defendant to provide

and needful maintenance.

Guy Flinn, to furnish maintenance
and support for his wife, Mamie
Flinn, and that he be compelled to
pay twenty dollars per month for
the support and maintenance of his
said wife, the plaintiff herein, and that
the court declare a lien on defen
dant's undivided one-third interest
in the above described real estate.

commissioner to rent or sell defend
ant's undivided one-third interest
