Caruthersville Argus.
So the Argus admits that the
Hayti Herald was right. Surely
if the Herald was not right if
the Herald was in error, the Ar
gus would say so. No newspa
yer was ever known to give up a
controversy when it was in the
right. The Argus say there i
no use in "splitting" hairs, when
it comes to law and telling the
truth, which is equivalent to say
ing, "if you can fool the people,
fool them," as he has tried to do.
The Herald quoted the law, quot
ed not only the sections, but the
articles and their subjects and
purposes; the Herald went fur
ther and showed the opinion of
Attorney-General Major, our
governor-elect, and the opinion
of another eminent attorney, yet
the Argus brands this as "silly
twaddle." This is a very clear

People of Pemiscot county:
The Argus says the candidates
you nominated by your votes at
tne primary, August u, were 1
nominated by bad influences.
This assertion is impeaching
your franchise as a citizen and
voter. You went to the polls of
the primary and nominated your
choice, and now the Argus says
you are corrupt, a fool, and did
not have sense enough to vote
as you should have voted. Isn't
that the limit for gall?
than to attempt to fool and mis
lead the people. The people are
entitled to know the truth.

Ed. A. Wright, owner of the
New Madrid Missouriau, gave
indication tnat the Argus regards , notice last week that he publish
the people as foolish and in-ed his last issue in New Madrid,
competent to judge the truth fori ttnd that he would remove to
themselves. Very well; the peo- j Portageville, where the paper
pie think different, and they are would be continued. This may
be ;i wise move on the part of
Mr. Wright, and then again it
may not. We have had some ex
perience in the newspaper busi-

We are sorry to see the Argus
claiming all the honor for having
the county's books audited. wien
the fact is, the honor chiefly be
longs to the Democrat.

" I was in a very low state of health, and was not able to
be up and tend to my duties. I did try Cardui, and soon
began to feel better. I got able to be up and help do my
housework. I continued to take the medicine, and now I
am able to do my housework and to care for my children,
and I feel as though I could never praise Cardui enough
for the benefits I have received."
