' Dakota, compiled ly the Journal, was
published to day. The total yield of
wheat in the three Suites is phu-ed at

NEWSUM TO BE TRIED.
A special Term of Court Tor That
I'ur pose Will be Held Septem
The Xewsum murder case has been
set for a hearing at Jackson on the
9th of September. Judge Shackleford
of Boonville will try the case. Two
years ago Xewsum was tried in the
Circuit court at Jackson and at that
trial the jury returned a verdict of
guilty and Xewsom was sentenced -to
be hanged. An apcal was taken to
the Supreme Court and that court - re
versed the lower court and the case
will be tried for the second time.
Xewsum was indicted for killing a
saloon keeper in X'ew Madrid and his
case was brought to this county on
change of venue. At the first trial
nearly one hundred witnesses eame up
fromJXew Madrid county and the trial
lasted four days. Able lawyers were
employed on both sides and a hard
fight was on from the beginning to the
end of the trial.
