Mr. Dempsey moved that the bill of the Cajie Girardeau Water Works & Electric Light Company as read, bo allowed, but the vote being unsatis factory the Yeas and Nays were de manded, with the following result: Yeas, Dempsey, Givens, Polack 3 Nays, Blomeyer, Kimmel, Ruess kamp, Unnerstall- 1. The Mayor declared said motion lost. On motion of Mr. Blomeyer said bill was referred to the Committee on Water and Light. Communication of William Woel eke. Justice of the Peace, stating that under the appointment of the Mayor he had temporarily filled the office of Police Judge, during the sickness of that officer, Hon. Rudolph Bahn, and asking the Council to fix his compen sation for said services, was present ed and read and on motion received and ordered filed. No statement of the time served be ing in said communication, but the Council being informed that it was for one week, Mr. Kimmel moved that Mr. Woeleke be allowed pay for said one weeks service at the rate of $20 per annum and the Clerk is instructed to issue hi ji a warrant for said amount and deduct the said amount from the salary 04' the Police Judge, and the motion carried. Petition of John Cauble praying tha Board to extend the time for him to vacate that part of the Levee now oc cupied by him in rebuilding his borU, to say January 1, 18!)S, or until the river rises sufficiently for him to float said boat, was presented and read and on motion of Mr. Dempsey received and ordered filed and the petitioner granted until January 1, I8S18. for the purpose asked for.
