the right, title, interest, claim and
estate of the above named plaintiff
and defendants in the above entitled

Now at this day comes the plaintig
herein bjr ;bis attorney before the clerk
of the Cape Girardeau Court of Com
mon Pleas, in vacation, and tiles his
petition .und affidavit, alleging among
other things that defendant. Nancy S.
Endicott, is not a resident of the State
of Missouri.
Wherefore it is ordered, by the clerk
of said court, that said defendant be
notified by publication that plaintiff
has commenced a suit against her in
this court, the object and nature of
which is to obtain a decree of divorce
from the bonds of matrimony con
tracted between plaintiff and defend
ant, on the grounds of such indigni
ties rendered plaintiff by defendant,
as render his condition intolerable,
and that unless the said defendant,
Nancy S. Endicott. be and appear at
this court, at the next term thereof, to
be begun and holden at the court
house, in the city of Cae Girardeau,
in said county, on the 22d day of May
next, and on or before the third day
of said term, if the term shall so long
continue, and if not. then on or before
the last day of said term, answer or
plead to the letition in said cause,

fees, commission, bonds and term of
office of elective officers: the reten
tion and creation of offices to be
tilled by appointment, and the duties,
salaries, bonds and fees of the offi
cers thus retained and appointed,
and providing penalties in certain
cases."
Be it ordaitKMl by the council of the
city of Cape Girardeau, Missouri,
as follows:
Section one ( 1 ). That section of
ordinance No. -517, approved Feb. Mb,
1 8S4. being "An ordinance concerning
the election, duties., salaries. Jevs,
commissions, bonds And term of office
of elective officers, the retention and
creation of offices to be tilled by ap
pointment and the duties, salaries,
bonds and fees of th officers thus re
tained and appointed and providing
penalties in certain cases' ' be amended
by striking out the words "one dollar"'
in the fourth line of the fifth para
graph of said section J.I, relating to
City Attorney and inserting the words
'two dollars'' in lieu thereof, so that
said paragraph when so amended shall
read as follows:
City Attorney Two hundred dollars
salary: ten per cent, on all sums col
lected by suit for delinquent taxes,
and paid into the city treasury: f-r
each conviction in the Police Court
for violation of any city ordinance,
two dollars and for all other services
in courts of record and Appellate
Courts, such compensation as the
Mayor and council may di-em just and
reasonable.
Section Two (-). This ordinance
shall take effect and be in force from
and after its passage.
