Mrs. John Woodcock's nephew is visiting her from Colorado. Mrs. M. S. Stinson was visiting at Mrs. John Lawry's Monday. Bob Brown says they are going to move the capital to Rogers. The frame work for the bowling al ley and pool hall in Rogers is up. Peter Clancy, Jr., took a team and pulled a tin can out of a mud hole. Mrs. M. S. Stinson called on Mrs. James Rodman Tuesday afternoon. Miss Lois Parks' mother visited her a few days, Miss Lois returning home to Bckelson where she will spend a couple of weeks then spend the rest of her vacation at Page with her sister. A lunch was serv ed and all enjoyed themselves, espe cially the children. John Anderson and Will Smith call ed at the Hannemann home Sunday. Mrs. J. H. Miller and son, Willie, and Mrs. R. W. Menke were callers at San born Saturday. Mrs. A. Hannemann and son, Martin, attended the Lutheran Ladies' Aid at Gulmon's Sunday. Henry and Robert Menke and Clif ford and Arnold Harstad visited at the Christianson home Sunday afternoon. Work has been started on Charley Paulson's new auto garage in Rogers. The building will be of brick construc tion. C. E. Sealander took a load of grain to his other farm below Rogers and got his horses mired in a bad place in the road. Mrs. Fred Rohde and sister, Miss Alice Tabbert, were in Sanborn Satur day where Miss Alice boarded No. 7 for E'ckelson. It is reported that Peter Hanson sold his farm to the Lund Land Co., for $50 per acre and in a few days the land company resold it to Iowa parties for the sum of $75 per acre. On April 27 a number of ladies gathered at the Schafer home in honor of Mrs. Schafer's 46th birday. Those who attended were: Mrs. J. H. Miller, Mrs. Will Hohde, Mrs. George Dotting, Mrs. Haupt, Mrs. John Froelich, Mrs. Vogel, Mrs. Zoller and daughter, An etia, Mrs. Will Pitter, Mrs. Fred Rohde, Mrs. R. W. Mr. Trapp, the Karnak merchant, was over from that place Wednesday on a short business mission. George J. Jacobson was down from Walum Wednesday for a short visit with Dazey friends. J. B. Shearer was a business caller in Cooperstown Wednesday between trains. M. H, Krantz went to Cooperstown Wednesday and spent the time be tween trains visiting with relatives and friends. O. H. Hoveland was a caller in Coop erstown Wednesday between trains. A. H. Wiji came up from Moorhead Monday and is spending ft few weeks looking after his farming interests in this vicinity. Miss Lulu Larson was up at Walum Tuesday between trains taking charge of her class in music at that place. O. H. Hoveland returned home last Friday from a short trip to Valley City. Miss Jessie Vogan returned to her home in Cooperstown last Friday af ter a short visit at the home of her sister, Mrs. Otto Marquardt. Mrs. Ole Oppegard was a visitor in Cooperstown last Saturday between trains. The junior baseball team went up to Hannaford last Saturday for a game with the Hannaford team. The boys came beck winners by a score of 38 to 11 and are feeling pretty much elat ed over their victory* Frank Oglesby returned home Mon day from a short business trip to Val ley City. Mrs. Elmer Anderson was up at Hannaford Monday between trains for a short business visit. HEMAN Sanborn Enterprise, May 4: Miss Clara Sauer returned home from Far go Tuesday morning. John Diemert the Watkins man was in this vicinity Monday. John Campbell was a caller at the Wm. Campbell, Jr., home Saturday1 evening. Mr. Kyrk, of Sanborn, the Grand Rapids woolen mills agent, was in this vicinity the first of the week. A number of friends gathered at the Simon Flach home Sunday, and that being their first Sunday in their new home they (all joined in celebrating in the old Canadian way. Lorina Lettenmaier is spending a few days at the C. Lettenmaier home this week. Chas. Munz and family were callers at the C. Lettenmaier home Sunday evening. Mrs. G. Lettenmaier and family were callers at the Andrew Bommer home Sunday evening. Gertie and Maggie Schriever were callers at the Henry Sauer home Mon day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Will Campbell, Jr., were callers at the E. C. Thompson home Sunday. Maggie and Gertie Schriever spent last Thursday afternoon with Rose and Anna Lettenmaier. Miss Lizzie Kuehn, of Valley City, arrived last Wednesday to assist Mrs. J. A. Stoll this summer. Herbert, Rose, Anna and Ricka Let tenmaier ate dinner with Sam Wolski and family Sunday. E. W. Cowdrey of Valley City spent a few days with his parents and is now driving anew Ford car. Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sauer April 28, a daughter. All concerned doing nicely. Congratulations. Lambert Bommer, Sr., who has been ill with pneumonia and pleurisy is somewhat better this week. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Swartout and Mrs. T. B. Swartout and Mrs. Earl Swart out were Valley City visitors Monday afternoon. Lakeside school closed last Friday, April 28, and the teacher, Miss Lena Arntson, left for her home at Wheeler, Wis., the same evening. Mrs. J. A. Stoll, Miss Lizzie Koehn, Mr?. Sam Wolski and Edna, and Mrs. C. Munz and Dorothy were Lakeside school visitors last week. BRIMER 1 Sanborn Enterprise, May 4: E. B. Willson has been on the sick list but is now improving. The progress of Brimer township is shown by the number of new automo biles that we see making their tours through the country, namely P. E. Crown, Thos. Kane and'C. Legge. Dan Henderson and daughter, Alice, were callers at the John Henderson home Sunday. Miss Almeda Simpson and friend, Miss Marie Gransee, were business vis itors at Jamestown Saturday. Hamilton Reid and Johnny Reid of Courtenay were visitors at the Hane home the first part of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Rutledge Kane, Edna Kane and Archie Bole were callers at the Dan Henderson home Sunday. Miss Ida Klein returned Saturday morning from the Riverside hospital of Valley City, where she has been for some time. Her many friends will be glad to hear she is much improved. LEAL Rogers Citizen, May 5.—'Mrs. H. E. Pickett, of Rogers, visited with rela tives in Leal last Thursday. Chas. Peterson has purchased anew Studebaker four. Everything appears to be running smoothly now, although at first it would undobutedly have been more convenient if the roads were a bit wider and hitching posts less num erous. Mr. and Mrs. Ritch and son, Glen, of Kensal, were visitors last Thursday and Friday, having made the trip in their new "Dost." Mrs. Tom Flewell and granddaugh ter, Vida Wilson, visited with relatives in Leal the latter part of next week. Mr. Hoveland, of Dazey, attended the Masonic lodge in Leal last Thursday. SPENCER D. Last Saturday evening the intermed iate and high school pupils gave Miss Widdifield, teacher of the intermediate grade and of domestic science, a linen shower at the Myers home. All pres ent enjoyed the evening and the delic ious luncheon by the hostess. Miss Widdifield was presented with a set of table linen and the good wishes of her pupils. The Leal Masonic lodge was increas ed by two new members last Thursday evening. Visitors from Valley City, Kensal, Wimbledon, Sanborn and Rog ers were present. Dazey Was Hostess Thursday to Rebekah Lodges of District ROGERS Rogers Citizen, May 5.—Miss Alma Becker was a visitor in Valley City Saturday between trains. Miss Florence Aygarn returned to her school duties at the Normal Mon day evening after spending Sunday with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Sweet returned home Saturday from the west where they have spent the winter the balmy climate near Los Angeles. Miss Thelma Woodcock came home Saturday evening to spend some time with her parents. She returned to her school duties on Monday evening. Our members of the Masonic lodge in Leal went up to that place last Thursday evening to attend the ban quet, making the trip in automobiles. F. C. Ellis returned to Rogers Sun day evening from Valley City where he has been in the hospital the past few weeks. His many friends will be glad to learn that he is able to be around again. Dan Farrell returned to Fargo Mon day evening to resume his college studies after spending the Easter va cation with his parents here. Assistant Dairy Commissioner Green wood spent Wednesday and Thursday in the vicinity of Litchville and Mar ion. While there he encountered a creamery promoter working at Litch ville, to organize a creamery company. Mr. Greenwood states that Litchville will eventually have a creamery, but it will probably be built by the farm ers and on a co-operative plan. PAGE SEVEN The annual session of the district convention of the Rebekah lodge of this district was held at Dazey ob Thursday. The meeting opened at 2:30 p. m., and was presided over bjr Miss James, of Dazey, the towns rep resented being. Valley City, Binford, Courtenay and Dazey. The first part of the afternoon com mittees were appointed to complete the work. Those appointed were as follows: Resolutions—Mrs. Laing, of Courte nay, and Mesdames Lavery and Winte ler, of Valley City. Press—Mesdames Kennedy and Tol stad, of Valley City, and Miss Oppe gaard, of Dazey. Good of the Order—Mrs. M. E. Ma son, of Valley City, and Mesdames Kelly and La Valley, of Daazey. Examination—Mrs. Alice Mares, of Wheatland, the state assembly presi dent, and Mrs. Laing, of Courtenay. Memorial Miss James, of Dazey, Mrs. West, of Binford, and Mrs. M. R. Nelson, of Valley City. The ladies then adjourned until 8:30, when the evening session was called to order by the district president, Miss James. The address of welcome was given by Miss Hattie Kelly, of Dazey, and was responded to by R. G. Hammerud, of Valley City. Mrs. Laing, of Courtenay, then read a splendid paper on the work done in the order. Reports of the various committees were then read and accept ed, and the memorial committee voted to send letters of condolence to Sister Burrill, of Velva, who is state secre tary of the Rebekah lodge, and also t» Sister Gale, of Valley City. The initiation work was put on by the Binford lodge, and following this officers were elected for the coming year. The new officers are: President—Sister West, of Binford. Vice president Sister Nelson, of Valley City. Secretary—Sister Reid, of Courtenay After the election, the president then appointed the following officers^ Warden—Sister Evarts, of Binford. Conductor—Sister Winkler, of Val ley City. Inside Guardian—Sister Oppegaard, of Dazey. Outside Guardian Sister Boe, of Binford. Chaplain—Sister Kelly, of Dazey. Installation of the newly-elected and appointed officers then took place. An invitation was extended from the Binford lodge to meet with them next year and the invitation was accepted by a unanimous vote of thanks. After this the ladies adjourned to the new Dazey Hotel for the banquet.
