WlLLMAft TRIBUNE, WEDNESDAY, MAY li, Iftftl South St. Paul, May 10.—The cattle trade closed weak and with values 25 to 50c lower for the period. Good steers were scare and few arrived late that were able to command more than $11.50 to 12. In the early days, a few sales were made at $12.50 to 13 for lots that had been on feed for some time. Yearl ings sold up to $11.00 and 11.50 with bulk at $7 to 10. A few fat cows and heifers cashed at $10.50 to 11 with most sales at $7 to 9. Canners and' cutters cashed at $4.50 to 6.50 while bulls sold largely at $6 to 8 with a few higher. Veals closed with top at $11. Stocker and feeder trade was dull and lifeless with good cattle scarce. Dairy cows ruled about steady at $75 to 125 and higher occasionally. Receipts were about 24.000. Hog values slumped 25 to 40c at the close with receipts much heavier than a week ago. Best light hogs topped at $14.50 with most sales at $14.20 to 14.40. Receipts for the week were 53, 000, an increase of 15,000. Quotations: Light hogs $14.40 to 14.50 mixed, $14.30 to $14.40 heavy mixed, $14 to 14.25 heavv packers $12 to 13 pigs $10 to 13.75 boars, $5 to 8.50. Receipts continued light in the sheep division but prices generally are quoted higher than at other 'markets Only *1700 arrived here. SHORTHORNS A number of farmers from this county attended the Meeker County Shorthorn Breeders' Association sale held at Litchfield last Thursday. Among the buyers from this county was Fred A. Lindquist of Roseland, purchased a cow, calf, and one heif er 15 months old for the sum, of $250. A. E. Blomquist of Roseland purchas ed one heifer 18 months old for $245. Ole Blomquist of Roseland purchase ed one heifer two years old for $185. W. T. Blomquist of Whitefield pur chased a bull for $110. Arthur Klint of Kandiyohi township bought the ten month's bull which was the Grand Champion at the Shorthorn show, the day before, for $300. J. O. Dahlberg of New London purchased two heif ers. Garret and Ben Valaar and Fred Holtz of Raymond also bought Short horns at this sale. County Agent E. L. Rodegeb attend ed the sale and was present at the banquet at the Silver Grill Cafe at Litchfield in the evening. The breeders of this county who at tended the Meeker County Shorthorn Association sale were favorably im pressed by the way it was conducted and the good fellowship manifested. There is some talk of organizing a Shorthorn Breeders' Association for Kandiyohi County. Another sale will he held at Hector on June 3 which will be conducted by the Renville County Shorthorn Breeders' Associa tion. Those desiring a catalog can get the same by waiting County Agent W. K. Machines be attended at all times while engine is running. 2. Must have lights at night whether moving or standing. 3. Must be operated with muffler. 4. Mus be equipped with bell or horn. 5. Must be driven in a careful a ner. 6. Must pull to right when signalled from Vehicle behind desiring to pass. 7. Must pass to right when meeting another vehicle. 8. Must pass to the left of an over taken vehicle. 9. W turning into another street to the right, corner as near right hand curb as possible. 10. W turning into another street to the left, pass the center of intersecting street before turning. 11. The speed limit as fixed by law is not to exceed 15 miles per hour in residence districts and 1© miles in business section of the city.
