TO 1 if County Cofnmissioners. Official Proceedings of the Extra Session Held Last Week. The county commissioners of Brown county, Minnesota, met pursuant to a majority call at the court house in New Ulm on Tuesday, March 15th, 1898, at 10 o'clock a. m., Commissioners P. D. Raverty, Anton Richartz and F. Schu bert being present. The board was called to order by the chairman. On motion the meeting was adjourned to 2 o'clock p. m. AFTEBNOOK SESSION. The board met pursuant to adjourn ment at 2 o'clock. All members piesent. An auctioneer's license was granted to I. W. Johnson of Lake Hanska to sell real and personal property. The petitions of Lorenz Flor, Theresa Kripner and Herta Heers to purchase certain tax lots in the city of New Ulm received the approval of the board and were recommended to the state auditor. It was agreed to allow Gilbert Gilbert son of Burnstown $6 per month until further order. The board then commenced cancel ling orders of the several funds, paid from Januaiy 1st, 1898, and found the amounts *o be as follows County Revenue faund $4,802.34 County Poor Fund 902.17 County Road and Bridge Fuqd 117:96 General School Fund 2,442.82 General TOWD Fund 467.66 Private Redemption Fund 46:90 Court House Fund 206.20 Total $8,986.05 The board then adjourned to Wednes day March 16th, 1898, at 9 o'clock a. m. Wednesday, March 16th. The Board met pursuant to adjourn ment at 9 o'clock. All members present. The Board proceeded to consider the bids for two cars of No. 1 white oak bridge planks, and ou motion it was re solved to award the contract to the low est b.'dder, Alfred J. Vogel being the lowest, at $28 per thousand, delivered at the court house square. A petition signed by the supervisors of the town or Sigel, asking for aid to rebuild the bridge across the Little Cot tonwood river in Section 31, Township 109, Range 31, was on motion rejected. The Board met pursuant to adjourn ment at 2 o'clock. The applications for correction of as sessment and abatement of taxes of Hans Rassmussen, John Buschers, Alb, Stein hauser and L. G. Vogel received the ap-on proval of the board and were recom mended to the'state auditor. A resolution from the town of Milford was read and ordered filed. The auditor was authorized to dispose, of two dozen jurors chairs at the highest price obtainable. The bills of J. J. Green, H. G. Hay John Prahl, Henry Prahl, Carl Prahl and Willie Metzen were dissallowed. The bills of Louis Buenger in the case of M. Hirsch, deceased, and H. G. Hays in the case of Floyd Cunningham were laid over to to the next session. Bills were allowed the commissioners as follows: P. D. Raverty, fees and mileage $25.40 Fr. Schubert, 8.45 *J. B. Grading streets, constructing culverts and crossings, placing curbstones, and sprinkling streets. Notice is hereby given that sealed pro posals will be received by the city council at the office of the City Clerk until 2 o'clock p. m., April 12th, 1898, for the following work and the furnishing of material to-wit: 1. For grading and graveling Minnesota Street from First South Street to Third South Street. 2. For grading and graveling Minnesot a Street from Third North Street to Fourth North Street and also from Third North Street to Fifth North Street. 3. For the furnishing of all material and labor constructing combined culverts and street crossings across Minnesota Street, to be guaranteed for one year also for the furnishing of all material andlabo con structing street, crossings along Minnesota Street the bids must be given foi each culvert and each street crossing separate. 4. For the furnishing of all material and labor placing curbstoti/es on both sides of Minnesota Street as far as to be graded, bids to be given by lineal foot. All bids must be sealed and marked for the work intended. All the foregoing according/ to plans, profiles and specifications of said material and work on file and subject to inspection at the C^ty Clerk's office, the whole work to be completed to the satisfaction and ac ceptance of the Committee on Streets on or before June 10th, 1898. Bach contractor has to furnish a bond in the sum of Five hundied ($500.00) Dollars with at least two good sureties to be ap proved by the Mayor for the guarantee of the culverts for one year and for the faith ful performance of the contract and in ac cordance with Sec. 7, Chapter 8, of the city charter, and in failure of each of the fore going contracts to complete the work at the stated time to forfeit the sum of Five ($5.00) Dollars per day for every day after said date that a be required to com plete said work as fixed and settled dam ages, said amount to be deducted from the contract price of said work. 5. Bids will also be received for the sprinkling of Minnesota Street, from a point One hundred feet south of Second South Street, to a point One hundred feet North of Fourth North -Street, including all cross streets up to the alley and under the conditions as in the sprinkling contract of last year on file and subject to inspec tion at the City Clerk's office. All proposals, for said sprinkling must be sealed and marked "Proposals for Street .Sprinkling each bid has to be ac companied by a certified check in the sum of Fifty ($50.00) Dollars, except for Street sprinkling, the same has to be accompa nied by a certified check invthe sum of Twenty-five ($25.00/ Dollars, all made pay able to the City Clerk, to be forfeited to said city as liquidated damages.in case any of the successful bidders tail to enter into contract and give satisfactory bond within three days thereafter.
