Nelson Lutneer Company* Cloquet, Minn March 31.— It is understood that the deal between the Nelson Lumber com pany and the Weyerhauser in terests has been consummated and the property of the former in this section passes into Weyer hauser's possession. The deal has been under con sideration some time, but most lumber circles have not believed that it was likely to be closed, the sum asked for the properties being very large. The amount that the Nelson company gets for its interests ir? this section is placed at about $4,000,000 cash or its equivalent, making the trade one of the largest that has ever taken place in Minnesota pine timber interests. The possessions of the Nelson com pany in St. Louis and carleton counties include two very large and modern mills at this place, capable of cutting from 100,000, 000 to 125,000,000 feet in a sea son: vast tracts of standing pine along the St. Louis and tributar ies estimated to contain several hundred millions of timber a new standard gauge railway 26 miles long and now being ex tended into the iron and pine re gions of the Mesaba range, valu able iron lands on the Mesaba leased to the Minnesota Iron company, and from which a roy alty is received, as well as unde veloped iron lands.
