From time to time one hears rumors of prospective timbS? for the spring election, but the time is still too remote to cause an actual bustle on the part of any of the prospective candidates. Isaac Rova, a Finnish miner, was killed by a cave-in at the Pioneer tofrie, Ely, Tuesday last. The Enterprise scribe on Sat urday laet accompanied D. Moon, the genial president of the Moon & Kerr Lumber company, on a short drivo out to the com pany camps north of tho city. The company is this year putting in some 12,000,000 feet, and will open their mill much earlier in the spring than heretofore, to enable them to saw the winter's cut. The Moon & Kerr company has always beeu a substantial factor in Virginia's prosperity, and the increase in the company's business from year to year is a source of pleasure to Virginians in general as well as to the in terested members of the corpor ations. The impression has been spread broadcast that in the burning of the Fay building Wednesday morning the city lost many valuable books and papers, bufthis impression is entirely erroneous. City Recorder Fay has always been very particular in filing in the city safe every record coining into his hands and the night of the fire had two city books in his room, the city proceedings book and record book, both of which, had they been bu^cl- could have been re placed, one from the files of The Enterprise and the other frbm the files of valuable papers re corded and kept in the safe.
