The social and card party at Hawkinson Hall Monday evening under the auspices of the young ladies of the Catholic Church was a pronounced success, socially and financially. Ed Finch returned yesterday from McKinley, Mich., where he was call ed by the illness of his brother, Frank, whose death at a Detroit hospital was noted in the Enterprise of last issue. On Saturday Joseph Karl closed a deal for the purchase of the meat market of Joseph Bartol, of Chis holm, taking possession of same on Monday. The business purchased is said to be a paying one, and be tween his shop here and his new place Mr. Karl will be kept busy. The new tower and tank of_ the Virginia L. & W. Co., foundation for which was laid last fall, is ex pected to arrive here about March 1st. The erection of this tank will void the necessity of the Light & Water Company connecting with the lake in case of fire, and will al so give additional natural pressure.
