Board held March 11, 1921.
Meeting called to order by the Chair
man at, 10 o'clock A. M.
All members present.
Minutes of Feb. 9th meeti ng read and
approved as read.
Whereas^the Petition of Frank Rutz.
a freeholder of School District No. 42
in, this County, with the approval of
the County Superintendent endorsed
thereon, representing that he is the
oWher of the lands hereinafter de
scribed, which are situate in said School
District, and that said land adjoins
School District No. 4 and asking- that
his said lands may be set off from .said
District No. 42 to said District No. 4
for the following: reasons:
That the roads are not open from his
residence to the school house, in said
Dist. NO. 42 and that the roads are open
and In mueh better shape to the school
house in Dist. No. 4 and for the fur
ther reason that he is one and one-half
miles nearer to the school house in
JDfst. No. 4 by roafcls which can be
traveled. &
Also for the reason that a semi
.graded school, with two teachers, is
maintained in Dist. No. 4 and School
"Dist. No. 42 is a one room, one teacher
school.

Board held on the 9th day of Feb. A.
T. 1921 for the action of said Board
thereon and whereas, it as thereup
on ordered by said Board that a bear
ing* should be had on said petition at
a session of said Board commencing
on the 11th day of March A. D. 1921,
at then County Auditor's office in the
City of Warren in said County and
Whereas, it was further ordered in and
by said order that notice of the time
and"place of guch hearing be given by
posting a notice of said hearing in
three public places in each of the
School Districts tb be affected by said
petition, and by serving upon the Clerk
of-.-each! of said School Districts, per
sonally. a copy of said notice at least
ten'days'befo re the time appointed for
such bearing, and by giving two week3
published notice thereof in the Warren
Sheaf, a duly qualified newspaper print
ed" and published at the City of Wa r
ren, in said County, and whereas at
the said session of said Board com
mencing on said 11th day of March A.

posting and service of said notice of
hearing as therein directed and re
quired, more than ten days prior to
said last named date, having been made
and filed, said petition as publicly
read and considered by the Board, with
vervthing which was said by said in
terested' parties for or against grant
ing' the prayer of the petitioner and
being satisfied from all the evidence
produced at such hearing that the al
legations of said petition are true and
aid Board being of opinion that the
prayer of said petitioner should be
granted, it is hereby ordered and de
termined that the following described

and the same are hereby set off from

the following resolution in writing and
moved its adoption:
Be it resolved that the sum of $200.00
fee and the same is hereby appropriated
out of the ftenera) Revemie Fund for
advertising the Agricultural Resources
of the County, and that said sum be
paid to the Minnesota Red River Val
ley' Development Association for this

work at the following rate per hour
for, men and teams:
Men, 35 cents per hour Man and,
team, 60 cents per hour Man and wo
teams, 80 cents per hour.

Commissioner Ole Torgerson offered
the following resolution .in writing and
moved its adoption:
Whereas, Abel Anderson, the Health
Officer of the Township of West Valley,
in this County, has reported to the
County Boardthat John A. Johnson of
Section Twelve in the Township of
West Valley is afflicted with tuber
culosis and that he considers, the said
John A. Johnson a menace to his family
and other persons and recommends
that he be removed to a public Sana
torium
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, that
said Abel Anderson, be^ and he is here
by authorized to remove the said John
A. Johnson and place him in the Tuber
culosis Sanatorium at either Crookston
or Thief River Falls where the said
John A. Johnson shall remain until dis
charged therefrom by the Superintend
ent of such institution.
It Further Resolved, that the ex
penses of keeping the said John A.
Johnson at such Sanatorium is to be
paid bv the County of Marshall on
Monthly Vouchers, the said John A.
Johnson not being financially able to
pay the said hospital expenses himself.

Commissioner A. N. Lodoen offered
the following resolution in writing and
moved its adoption:
Be It Resolved that the sum of $500.00
be and the same is hereby appropriated
out of the General Revenue Fund of
the County, and that the same be paid
to the Minnesota Highw ay Improve
ment Association, Inc. for advertising
Good Roads Amendment No. 1. the same
appropriation being made in accord
ance with Chapter 205 Session Laws of
Minnesota for the year 1919.

then presiding, so declared.
Commissioner Carl T. Olson offered
the following resolution in writing and
moved its adoption:
Be It Resolved, that Marshall County
offer a bounty for the destruction of
gophers and crows and that said bounty
be as follows: Five cents for each
pocket gopher, three cents for each
cdmthon gopher, and ten-cents for each
crow and that said bounty be paid
accordance with Sec. 5203 G. b. 1913.

Estate in the Village of Stephen was on
motion recommended to Minnesota Tax
Commission for their approval.

mended to the Minnesota Tax Commis
sion for their approval.

It was decided to favor the cultiva
tion of the Early Ohio potato as being
the best adapted to- the soil and condi
tions of the county at the Semi-annual
meeting of the Pennington County Pro
duce association at Thief River Falls
last week. Cobblers were second in
favor and Russet Burbanks and Green
Mountains, third and forth, respective
ly.
Eleven baby clinics constituting the
examination of more than three hun
dred children have been conducted in
Norman county since October, 1919.
Every town and village in the county
has had the advantage of at least one
clinic.
E. K. Sampson, who has been ap
pointed as superintendent of Norman
county schools, entered upon his new
duties last week. He formerly served
six years as superintendent of schools
in Nobles county.
The remains of John P. Ambuchl,
which a IT I veil in Ada from France,
were buried in the Ada cemetery last
week. ..A guard of ex-service men in
uniform were present at the funeral

in the case against Robert Miller,
