St. Paul road, were in the city yester
day to meet Senator Sabin and to look
over matters pertaining to their road
and its prospect of coming into the

ground and engaging in some general
conversation they stated that they could
not take any definite action themselves
without instructions from headquarters,
but would write Mr. Miller and advise
him to arrange matters so as to have
the road come in with the rest. A
meeting will be arranged between Gen

DRIVEN CRAZY.
A Chicago "Woman Made Insane
by a Drunkard.
Chicago, March 6.— Mrs. May Sikes,
a beautiful and accomplished woman
thirty years of age, has become a raving
maniac through fright, and lies in her
room in a fashionable boarding house on
the South side in a pitiable condition, It
seems Sunday morning a young man,
who roomed in the same house, came in
in an intoxicated condition and began
smashing furniture. When Mrs. Smith,
the owner of the house, remonstrated,
he went to his room, but returned to the
ball carrying in his hand a huge knife,
threatening to kill both the women. Mrs.
Sikes fell to the floor in a faint, from
which she did not recover for twelve
hours, and then it was discovered that
her reason was gone. The physicians
think she is hopelessly insane, aud say
she may die from the shock to her nerv
ous system. The young man who is re
sponsible for the sad. occurrence is
locked up. Airs. Smith is also confined
to her bed with a fit of nervous prostra
tion. Mrs. Sikes is said to be a member
of a wealthy and prominent family of
lie same name.
