14 SAlriT PAUL SOCIAL, Most of the gaiety in social circles last week was confined to Minnetonka and the hotels at that resort claimed a large majority of the society people from both cities. The regatta, of course, was the attraction. Many of those who went out during the week remained over the Sabbath and some will not return before the week Is up. This week the attraction will be at "White Bear, where the entertainment Is to be held Tuesday evening for the benefit of the Cycle Path association. There will be numerous parties made up from town, some of them cycle parties and some going out by train. This will be decidedly a society event and will no doubt be one of the most ♦njoyable events of the lake season. Ice cream socials still continue to at tract and even the somewhat autum nal weather of last week did not seem to diminish the sale of the frozen dainty, though some of the events were postponed on that account. There Is something very enticing to the most of people about a lawn social with all its colored lanterns, flags and bunting, and gay music, though it must be con fessed that the iast named feature at come of the recent affairs was any thing but inviting. It is really amaz ing to note in how many different keys some of the local bands can actually play at one time and still attract an admiring crowd. There have been a number of trolley parties over from Minneapolis recently LADY BEATRICE HITLER, "THE DAI GHTER OP A HIXDRER EARLS." Lady Beatrice Francis Elizabeth Butler is not only one of the most beautiful girls in Great Britain, but in the matter of ancestors she can make pretty nearly any boast she likes and back it up with the records in Burkes peerage. Lady Beatrice is just pass- Ing our of her teens. She was born on March 26, 1576. Her father is Marquis of Ormonde and Ossory and Viscount Thurles of Thurles in the County Tipperary. Her mother was Lady Elizabeth Harriet Groves cor, eldest daughter of the Duke of West minster. The house of Butler of Ormonde is one of the oldest in Ireland and the oldest in Irish history. The Butlers and the Geraldines which have somewhat brightened up the commonplace of after dinner street life down town. The cars have had bands and pianos aboard and while they did not wait to be interviewed every one in the parties seemed to be having the very best of good times. It will be in the nature of a pleasant surprise to her many friends in St. Paul, to hear of the engagement, in formally announced yesterday, of Miss Anne M. Kelly, eldest daughter of Judge and Mrs. William L,ouis Kelly, of Sherburne place, to Dr. T. Edward Post, a practicing physician of Los Angeles. Cal., where Miss Kelly vis ited during the past winter. Preparations are being made for the Interesting event, which will in all probability be quietly celebrated at the Kelly residence. Dr. Post Is a Phil adelphian who some years ago left the Quaker City to cast his lot in the far TVest, where he has built up a sub stantial reputation in his chosen pro fession. -MARRIAGE lIKLLS. His father was Hervey Walter, who* married in 1156. That seems to have been the foundation of the house and the descent has been pretty clear since then. Little lady Beatrice may, therefore, be truly said to be the daughter of a hundred earls, but she is one that may be admired. She has a very pretty little sister.
