Only a few persons complain of the lack of intense heat and that because of business reasons and not for social. Indeed, this has been an Ideal summer for entertaining and had we been given one of our old fashioned warm summers the bridge enthusiasm would probably have nearly-died out by now. But the conditions have been ideal for afternoon card playing, hence bridge has become a veritable craze and is much more in vogue now than three months ago. The failure of the White Bear chal lenger to sail away with the Sea wanhaka cup proved a great disap pointment not alone at White Bear but all over the Northwest, which would have been pleased to see the good yachtsmen of this region successful. There is no reason, however, why they should not try again. The success of Mr. Harold P. Bend in carrying off the golf championship on the Minjkahda links somewhat made up for the dis appointment- in Canada and all good golfers are loud in praise of his play ing, and he was highly complimented by golf experts from Chicago who came up to view the contest. From this time on there will be an added interest and pride in the Country Club golfers and wiftf this great success of Mr. Bend's the club is by way of becoming a center of golf enthusiasm. The fact that it is a man's sport is more and more believed, and while many women play an excellent game, the less strenu ous tennis is gaining steadily in popu larity. - -■ ■■•-■ ■v : -!^^-V--rv---:-:.,X- Mr. and Mrs. .
