The Hudson Regiitrr gives the account

Avery touching atorjf, similar to the
ta!e of "The Babes in the Woods."
comes to u from (Jrecn Hiver, in tie
town of Hinsdale. A few days sinrc
three children of John Foloy, residing
on the mountain east of that place, agtd
respectively four, six, and eight, became
lost in tho mountain woods. The firtt
was a little eirl. the other two were
boys.
They went to play noar the houpc, and
strayed away after huckleberries into the
woods. The mother missed them, and
blew her dinner horn all around for :
mile near the houac, but could get no an
ver. That mailt it rained verr hard
The next day word was sent to the vil
lage of Green River by tho frantic
mother, and all the people turned out
nd went in search of the children.
Every man was fitted out with bread,
meat and stimulant', in cam hey alinu d
find them. All was a v.mt wildon.e.s
for miles around, ao the men went iu dif
fernt directions.
Fear were entertained that the chil
dren might be attacked by wild beasts,
a Mr. Charles Jones, whi'e hunting
on thii mountain, had discovered time
wild cats, which escaped before he could
get near enough to shoot them. The
mother stood in thcdonr wringing and
twisting her hands, encnuraging the
hunters to be valiant, for she said thiy
were barefooted and bareheaded, and
would soon starve ; they were t.ever away
from borne before, and the nearest home
was about three or four miles distant, and
even to this they hid never been.
About 3 e'elock a little son of Mr.
Iogernoll, while hunting in the woods
for lost cattle, discovered the three litt e
creatures huddled together under a trie
nd covered with leaves. They put up
tbeir hands and began to cry when they
discovered the boy Inpermll. He led
thorn along to the open field, and so on
to the bouse, and the joy of the mother
may well be imagined. She ran to meet
them, screaming and crying, and, catch
log tbe first one in her arms hugging
that one for a moment, then letting it
down and taking another one and prciMd
that to ber heart, and so on fur nearly!
an hour before she became calmed. By
this timo all the hunters had returned'
from the search, aod they too, had to
kit and hold the children, and unbidden
tears came to the eyes of great stalwart
men who- had never shown tears since
their childhood.
One of tb men took tho little girl in
hi lap, and asked her if she slept any.
She replied laughing:
"Ye ; I put on Johnny's cap, and put
my feet on Put, aod the rain came ri.ht
down on me,"
When found they were all wet to tl e
skin, and would most likely have died in
tbe course of another day if they had
not been found. They say they lieu i d
their mother' dinner horn that night,
but dared not leave the trco that they were
wider for fear of getting further away.

On my return I visited ihe school
