Sun Cotton Review.
New York, October 23. The Sun's
cotton review says: Futures opened
quite buoyantly," and by 2 . m.
had made an advance of 9 to 1 1
points. Liverpool came unexpectedly
strong, and the weather seemed to
threaten frosts in the northern portion of
the cotton region, but, as reports from
Southern markets began to come in.
most of them ,sc. lower and others 1-H
lower, the selling movement under which
most of the early advances was made,
was lost. The close was barely steady.
Some bears predict a sort of dry rot in
the market, which, as in grain, will cam
prices abnormally lower before and per
manent reaction can be looked for. Cot
ton on spot was dull.
Continued Bargains at I.a-w'H.
In order to reduce the stock in main
lines, during the rest of this month, a
laree reduction will be made on many
fine and common iroods, varying ironi
ten to twenty-live per cent. The lines
of colored glass must be closed out
