Beach & Bowers, the old-time min strcl favotites, attracted an audience which jammed Harper's theatre from pit to dome last evening. . The per- formance was an entertaining and cievcr one in many respects, consid ering the small admission fee. Beach & Bowers have evidently struck a oonanza in making 2-night stands at popular prices. They are most of the show themselves, but there are some good singers, dancers, acrobats, mu steal people atd a contortionist whoso equal has never been seen iu Rock Island, with them. While thsre ought to be no dispo sition to begrudge the theatre man agement of every cent it can make, as there has not been a gold mine in the contract of this play house in re- cent years, yet it cannot be gain sayed that desperate chances were taken in packing the house as it was last evening. For this condition the police, though, were more to blame than the house management, as this department is supposed to exercise discretion in such matters where public safety is concerned. William Moore died last Wednes day at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. D. Henderson, of inflammation of the bowels. Mr. Moore was born and raised in Ohio, where in 1848 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Garrison. To them were born nine children, five of whom survive: Mrs. Eliza Higgins. Gaynor City, Mo.; Mrs JMary Metcalf, Marysville. Mo.; Mrs. Blanche Lawson, Cable; and Mrs. Rebecca Henderson, of Gil christ. The funeral occurred Fridav morning. Rev. Purse, of Orion, offi ciating, and the remains were en tered beside those of discased's wife in old Oxford cemetery.
