Rock Island Is a candidate for the
1902 Illinois encampment of the
Grand Army of the Republic, and will
this week go before the convention of
veterans at Peoria and ask that this
citj be honored by their presence a
year hence. -
Basiness men held an Informal
meeting this morning, at which the
amount necessary to defray the ex
pense of entertaining the convention
was pledged and the delegation that
will be on the ground tomorrow when
the annual encampment opens at I eo
rla will be in position to insure th
veterans and their wives and families
a pleasant time if they vote their next
gatnering to liocfc lland.
