its labors yesterday afternoon and
adjourned. The franchise asked for
by the Western Illinois Uailway com
pany along the highways from Milan
to the Moline Rock river bridge, the
same to be forfeited if the line is not
completed at the end of a year, was
"ranted. The vote by which the con
tract for furnishing medicine to the
poor in Rock Island was awarded to
I'. SHi.Iel was reconsidered on mo
tion of .Supervisor Hull and the con
tract was then awarded to A. J. IJiess.
The contention with the. Union Elec
tric Telephone fc Telegraph company
was dropped on condition that the
eompany furnish free service to the
court house till such time as connec
tion is furnished with the country
lines in the cr.unty.
