Many watch meetings were held, while over the city there were a va riety of social events to murk the happy occasion. Dancing parties were held by Allouez council, Xo. 65S Knights of Columbus, at Odd Fellows hail, and by the Thirty club, at the Industrial hall. At the" former ball 1he decorations were red, white and blue ineandescents. There were 60 couples present, including' .members and their ladies from Davenport and Mobile. The music was by Bleuer's orchestra. Industrial hall was flecorat cd with winter greenery. Ogden's furnished the music. At Turner hall the Kock Island Turngemeinde gave its annual "Sylvester" ball. It was largely attended. The music was bv Bleuer's. The Holiday club gave a dancing party at the Armory. The congregation of Memorial Christian chinch had a watch meeting following an entertainment incidental tn which the new officers of the Chris tian Kndeaver s-ocicty were installed. The program consisted of a piano t'nef by Misses Pearl McKennan and Bessie Wasson; recitation. Miss Ger trmle Davis; vocal solo, W. F. Prad'ey: recitation. A dinner for the bridal party and guests followed and a midnight Mr. and Mrs. Norton departed for a trip south, dining which they will visit Cuba. They will take up residence at Loek port, where Mr. Norton is one of the managers of the Northern Milling company.
