The clerk read bill from .John Kon-
osky and L. -M. Drack, 011 account of the
new No. 2 ho-e house. Referred to the
tire and committee.
The clerk read a bill from XV. .1. Pugh
for plans and blue prints alleged to have
been furnished bv him for the Milan
Altlernian liiikel moved that the
claim be referred to die claims and
Alderman Kckhart moved that the
claim-, be laid on the table. Carried.
The clerk read a claim from Mrs. Olof
.Johnson, for damages on account of
injuris jiileged to have been sustained in
an accident resulting from a defective
tiect. Referred to the claims com
mittee on motion of Alderman Birkel.
The clerk read the monthly reports of
1 ne city officers which were received and
placed tin lile.
The cleik presented the plat of Wood-
m's Second audition. Referred to the
street and alley committee and city en
gineer, on motion of Alderman Rloch-

effect that, acting under the resolution
of the Council, lie made a demand on
County Treasurer David Lyons, for the
city'w Mirtion of the back taxes collected
by the boaid of lev lew, and enclosing
the C-ountv Ti easiirer's deilinat ion to
comply with the demand, and an un-
igned legal opinion. advising the
Comity Trea-nrer that it would not lie
alvi-able to make a division of the fund
until lie has collected the delinquent
Alderman Robbins moved that the
legal opinion be laid on the table. Car

ter be refeired to the finance committee

The clerk read a communication from
the Rock Island Ruggy Co.. concerning a
contemplated addition to its factory,
which will be erected provided that the
privilege of extending a switch track
across First avenue, from the Burling
ton track to the factory building, be
ranted, and submitting an ordinance to
the latter effect.
Alderman Kennedy moved that the
ordinance be referred to the street and
alley committee, city engineer and city
Attorney to rcort. t-arned.

the Superintendent of Waterworks, re
torting the number of attachments and
meters, and the numbered employes in
he Waterworks Department and the

Alderman Rlochlinger offered a rete
ntion referring the resolution provid
ing for the rebuilding of the Xo. 2

Alderman Kckhart offered a resolution
authorizing the Mayor and Chief of the
Fire Department to inspect all public
buildings, and report at the next meet
ing of the City vouncil. Adopted.
Alderman Robbins submitted esti
mates from'the Moline Tool Co. and the
Davenport Foundry &. Machine Co. as to
the probable cot of repairing the old
Alderman Kennedy moved that the es
timates lie. referred to theMayor. Super
intendent of Waterworks and water
works committee, to reNrt at the nest
meeting of toe Council, as to what
should le done on the premise. Car
ried. Alderman Robbins of the waterworks
committee, submitted a report from
