Mrs. W'nrriner resided in this city up to seven years ago, o A deal was completed yesterday whereby Carey M. Jones has secured Library hall and that portion of it de voted heretofore to the Davenport public library, for the rental of $100. to be used as a school which will be known as the .Hues National Auction eering and Oratory. A. V. Yander Veer signed an agreement whereby the school will begin to occupy the old library room July 12. Mrs. Charles Yan Halle, at Bast Mo'ine. Deceased was born Jan. 22. 1823, in Belgium and came to this country in 1888. Eighteen grandchildren are also liv ing. o Belle .. wife of Robert P. Kerr. 177N Twentieth avenue, died Sunday after noon with typhoid fever. She was 34 tears old. The remains will be sent to Orion for interment. o All arrangements have been made for the wrestling match between Harry Mays and Bob Faulkner, of Chi cago, to be held here Friday evening in Ling Boys' hall, that organisation having the management of the show. Good preliminaries of boxing and wrestling hate been arranged and there will be plenty of excitement. Mats is under hard training with a partner. The con test is for a purse of $300. o Anderson Clapper, of Ohio, lost his left foot under the wheels of a Rock Island train at Twelfth street Satur day evening. He had jumped on the train in Davenport, riding to Moline on the bumpers of one of the ears. - o One of the most notable operations in the history of local surgery was performed Sunday at St. Anthony's hospital by Dr. Kvlan Sargent, assist ed by Drs. Treniblay. II. S. 1 ten net t and Carl Bernhardt, Jr. It consisted of a Caesarean section upon Mrs. Edward Berkmoes. ISHO Tenth street, and the removal of six fibroid tumors from the abdomen, The outcome of tin operation will not be known for sev eral days; One of the tumors was as large as a man's derby hat. - o - Adolph Ciottsche. the pioneer liar-nc.-s and saddle maker of this city, passed away Sunday evening at 5: 1" at his home, so4 Seventeenth street, after an illness with pulmonary com plications. Deceased was born in Han over, Germany, Sept. :!. 1831. There he learned the harness trade and served in the armies of Qermanjr, Sweden and Denmark. In ls."s ho came to Ameri ca, settling in Davenport and working at his trade. In ls'.2 he opened a har ness shop at 210 Wells street, now known as L612 See sad avenue, where he con tinned in business for 32 years and then retired. His first wife died in 1881, leaving three children and one step daughter. Minnie Brady. Mary Rasmussen, Rudolph and Frank Oott sche. The latter child died in 1406. He was married again to Christina Gerngroze in 1882, and they had one son, Carl Gottsche. o - Notwithstanding the lack of finan cial support, the baseball enthusiasts at the high school have decided to organize a team the first that has represented the school since the days when Dr. II.
