The sale of seats for Paula Ed wardes in "Winsome Winnie" opens at a. m. tomorrow af the bnv office rf I 'he Illinois theatre End of Season Course. The Y. M. C. A. entertainment course was concluded last evening wiilt (he engagement of the Lulu Ty ler Gates company, at the Illinois thea tre. The company's program proved a tilting close for an excellent course. The audience last evening was iarger than at many of the earlier numbers of the course, but not as large as de served by an entertainment such as was presented. Lulu Tyler Gates, the entertainer, demonstrated unusual ability and gave the audi nee a varied program of readings. The program o,i n.'.l with a clarinet solo by II. I!i nne llenton. who rendered "Faoel iita." by Ilrownoll Tracy. A contralto solo ''Spriimt ide." was rendered by Miss .Jennie K. W. Johnson. She re-.-poh..'.l with ;:: encore Mrs. Gatc-s" first rerxlin-r was a story of the pine lands, by William White. lis great dramatic parts were read in a very admirable manner by the entertainer, and gave a little sketch, entitled "She and gae a little skitch. entitled "She Didn't. '" A harp solo by Marie Lml wig won the audience, and two en cores were given. Mr. llenton render ed a scene and aira from Itiisa Di Mont fort, on the saxaphone. Se was recalled and played two popular pieces, with variations. Mrs. Gates' reading of Mark Twain's "The Death Difk" was the strongest number of the evening's program. This is very dif ferent in character from Mr. Clemens' usual style of writings, dealing with the time of Cromwell. This was fol lowed by a sketch of an old colored man's experience at the races, and a beautiful piece with music. "When the Old Man Smokes." After a contralto solo by Jennie F. W. Johnson. "River anil Sea." Mrs. Gates concluded the program with a four act monologue, illustrating the experiences of a bride, preceding the wedding ceremonies. It is very amusing, and Mrs. Gates kept the audience in continual laughter during its rendition. A Touching Story. is the saving from death, of the baby girl of George A. Eyler, Cumberland, Md. He writes: "At the age of 11 months, o;tr little girl was in declining health, with serious throat trouble, and two physicians gave her up. We were almost in despair, when we re solved to try Dr. King's New Discov ery for Consumption. Coughs and Colds.
