SOME NEW MARRIAGE LAWS
Divorcees Must Wait One rY, ear After
They Receive Decree Party to
Be Married Must Apply.
The new marriage laws will prove
a stumbling block to the happiness of
many a couple unless the tini is taken
by those who expect to secure licenses
to study the amendments long enough
to find out if they conflict with their
case. This law goes into effect July 1.
Divorcee Walt m Year.
Among other amendments is. one
that strikes at divorcees, arid hi parti
cular those who get their decree one
day and their marriage license toe
next, or. as has been known, get them
both the same day. In every case in
which a divorce has been granted the
diajrcees shall not marry within one
year from the time when the decree
was granted. In cases where adultery
was the charge, the guilty one can not
marry within two years. The penalty
for violation of this statute is impris
onment from one to three years, and
the marriage is absolutely void.
Appear la I'ersoa.
Another common practice in the se
curing of licenses will have to be dis
continued, that of sending some friend
to the office of the county clerk for
the document. A person desiring a li
cense must appear in person before
the county official and make applica
tion. When the license is applied for
the date and place of birth of both of
the applicants must be given.
New A are Limit.
No male person under the age of 19
years nor female person under the age
of 1C years can secure a license. Be
tween those years ami the legal age
they must secure and furnish notice
of consent of their parents or guard
ians to the county clerk.

STRANGER DOES UP WESTON
Many People See Some Scientific Pool
Some of the most interesting and
scientific iool playing seen in Rock
Island for years was witnessed last
evening at K. C. Berry's poolroom, a
stranger being matched with C. E.
Weston, the local champion. Weston
was done to a turn in two games, and
the news of the contest spread about
town so that an audience of over 10
men had gathered to witness the last
game. The stranger and a companion
entered the pool room early in the
evening, and were soon playing star
matches. It is asserted that no money
was wagered on the contests by either
of the players, but there is reason to
believe that the matches were for $20
a side. The two lads went to Daven
port this afternoon, and expected to se
cure some easy matches across the
river. The games last evening were
for 50 points.

I am compelled by a sense of gratitude
to tell you the great good your remedy
has done me in a case of Contagions Blood
poison. Among outer symptoms 1 was so
verely afflicted with Rheumatism, and got
almost past going. The disease got a firm
bold upon my system; my blood was thor
oughly poisoned with the virus. I lost in
weight -was run down, had sore throat,
eruptions, splotches and other evidences
of the disease. I was truly in a bad shape
when I began the use of S. S. S., but the
persistent use of it brought jne out of my
trouble safe and sound, and I have the
courage to publicly testify to the virtues.of
Ttmr great blood remedy, S. S. S., and to
recommend it to all blood-poison suffer
ers, sincerely believing if it is taken ac
cording to directions, and given a fair
trial, it will thoroughly eliminate every
particle of the virus. - Tames Cukean.
