By Removal of the Hart Murder
Trial to United States
NO OFFICIAL INFORMATION
Man Held for Murder of James Poppis

"All I know of the removal of, the
Hart murder trial to the United States
court is what I saw in The Argus last
evening," said State's Attorney John
K. Scott with rt-ference to the news
that was published exclusively in these
columns. "I w rote to United States Dis.

where the murder took place and ask

"The removal of this case to the fed
eral court will work a great saving of
Expense to Rock Island county, which
always attaches to a murder trial. And
then there is the chance of a convic
tion and the following of a death pen
alty in which the sheriff is entitled to
a large fee, which the county does not
now have to take."
(;vmmril Jariaillct lun.
The jurisdiction is probably held to
be under the United States court on
account of the fact that the alleged
murder took place on the Rock Island
arsenal Island. The case will probably
come up for trial about the same time
that it would have here, as the next
term for trial cases in the federal court
is in October. The continuance grant
ed here upon motion of the defendant's
attorneys would carry It over in the
Rock Island county circuit court until
the September term and probably
would not have been taken up for a
few weeks after the opening of the

the prosecution now devolves upon the
