Speaking of the new Et-hedule the Bloomington Bulletin says: "Bloom ington has some bad bad jumps to make, but there has been so much bickering and beefing from all sides this season that the locals decided to take what was given to them and say nothing. Next season care will be tak en to keep the control where it belongs and give each town a show to keep afloat." What Rock Island and the remainder of the league will be anxious to. learn is who is aimed at in that sentence con cerning "control." If it refers to any theories of ruling by divine right that may be cherished in some quarters it may be necessary to again convey a reminder that there are seven other clubs in the league. If it is a delicate way of admitting that the dope artist has been found out and sat down upon a!l will unite in a profound "amen." Manager McFarland, of Dubuque, uives out the following lineup with a 'number of others to be heard from lat er: Catchers Stark, Crowley, Tuck er; pitchers Fleming. Darrah, Kenne dy, Wilder, Bishop, Cook and a new man, Ed Brigan. from the North Da kota league; first base Bosse; second base BJackburn ; shortstop Fludley ; third base Reitz; right field McFar land; center field Reagan; left field Davidson. . - There is said to be some talk at sev eral cities- In the Three-Eye circuit of the clubs either in forming or joining practice leagues for the purpose of more thoroughly working out the new timber, before the season opens. The idea was suggested by a recent move of the St. Paul baseball club, which ha-s become a member of a practice league, just formed, with a playing season of two weeks, with a regularly drawn up schedule. NATURE'S LAXATIVE THE BEST. Many Are So-Called "Natural.". There are many laxat lyes on the mar kct that are often styled "Natural" be cause of the well known fact that the laxative which nature gives us is the best. Such ones arc constantly com ing up, but soon disappear because in reality they are manufactured, and can never attain the inimitable merits of the products of nature. Hunyadi Janos, the genuine -natural laxative water, has stood at. the head-for nearly half a century as the only laxative whose established . reputation Is Its best rcc ommendation. It remains always the standard because it is nature's remedy in its original form, pure and simple, in no way dependent, as the others are. on artificial composition. At all drug gists. Try it. SUN AND SNOW Sometimes Help the Hair to Go. In any changeable climate the hair is apt to become brittle and to break off stubby here and there. This makes a hair dressing almost a necessity, es pecially to ladies. In using a hair dressing, why not get the best, one that combines with it the efficiency In kill ing the dandruff germ that eats the hair off at the roots, causing what is called falling hair, and in time bald ness. Newbro's "Herpicide" is that kind of a hair dressing. You have no idea how delightful your scalp will feel, and how stylish your hair will ap pear, after an application or two of Herpicide. It is certainly a wonderful innovation as a scalp antiseptic and hair dressing. Sold by leading drug gists. Send 10 cents in stamps for sample to the Herpicide company, De troit. Mich. T. H. Nlanu CLAY COMES DOWN FROM HILL Streets in South Central Part of City Covered With Yellow Mud. Residents in a portion of the south central part of the city will have oc casion to be profoundly thankful when the clay hill betwen Seventeenth and Twentieth street south of Twelfth av enue is all washed away, if nothing else is to he done with it. Every time there is a heavy rain the streets and even the sidewalks below for blocks arc covered with yellow mud that is scarcely cleaned away before more comes. The thawing weather followed by the rain of the last two days has probably moved more clay than ha been carried down in the tame period heretofore, and the resulr is that in some places the streets are curb full of soft ooze causing great inconveni ence and requiring considerable ex pense for its removal. WORK ENLARGED BY PUTNAM WiJ Have New Buildings Expect to Send Out Personal Representa tives for Research. At the meeting of the Tri-City Press club at Turner ball in Davenport last evening two discourses were heard on the future possibilities of the Daven port Academy of Sciences. Prof. J. 11. Paarmann, the curator, and C. A. Ficke the president, dined with the club and after dinner interested the members In- this institution, which is destined to become great. The will of the late W. C. Putnam provided generously, for the future of the academy and while it is not known what the income will be, it is estimat ed at about $20.0(10 annually. The first step will be to carry out Mr. Putnam's expressed wish, that of providing a new fire proof building gf appropriate and convenient, design for the home of this study of science and the mu seum. , . Future Growth. The Academy of Sciences was started in 1SC7 with one case of specimens. It has gradually grown to a size and importance not comprehended by those who are not visitors at the institution. The volumes of its proceedings are to be found on the shelves of every insti tution of the kind in the world.. In the past considerable attention has been given to the collection of the pottery of the mound builders, and President Ficke, who speaks with authority, says the collection is not surpassed any where. It is desired that the future see this work pushed farther as there are greater possibilities in this field which is of great local interest. Tlio president expressed it as lus hope that such men as Prof. Starr of the Chicago university could be sent out to search the fields for valuable specimens for the mifseum. The idea of those in charge is to develop the academy a'ong general lines that will be of the greatest benefit to the people of the three ciiies and not with a view to sat isfying the specialist who must have vast resources for his study.
