Several times Bloomington had men
on base but were prevented from scor

bad few chances to tally outside of the
home runs. The home team had
about given up hope of doing any
thing with Scott when Greubner got
a life with two out in the eighth on
Wanner's fumble and bad throw.
Then Vogel lifted one out to. center
for the longest .hit ever made on the

In the ninth Miller hit safely, was sac

WEATHER MAN HELPS SOME
Team Is Crippled by Absence of Reg
ular Short Stop and Left Fielder
In New Uniform.
At Island City park this afternoon
the Islanders and Distillers are at it
again, and the Three-Eye league sea
son in Rock Island has 'been opened.
The Islanders appear for the first time
in their new "at home" uniforms, and
the two teams with a band made a
tour of the three' cities previous to go
ing to the park.
The weather is more favorable today
than was indicated yesterday, and al
though it is a little too cold a largf
number of fans are watching the first
game. Mayor McCaskrin inauguiated
the season with a speech and pitched
the first ball.
Team Is rlilel.
The Islanders are not in their best
form, and in fact there is no regular
ity about the men in left field and in
the short stop's position, to say noth
ing of the handicap in the absence of
Spantarn, the regular first baseman. 11a

Forney has been working on the infield
part of the time. While the mat'o:
was not fully decided. Manager M?:
Council was this morning eonsidcrin,-;
putting Wilson on the infield and
sending somebody else to the left g.ir

for the series.
