IN THE CHURCHES The first session of the 15th annual meeting of the Tri-City Luther league was held yesterday afternoon at-the First Swedish Lutheran church, of which Rev. S. G. Hagglund is pastor. A large number of delegates was pres ent from the Emanuel church of Walker Station; First Swedish church, Moline; Grace church. Rock Island; St. Paul's church, Davenport, and First Swedish church, Rock Island. Officers for the- coming year were elected as" follows: President John C. Mohl, St. Paul's church, Davenport. The meeting yesterday afternoon was opened with devotional exercises led by Dr. W. H. Blancke of Daven port, and Miss Minnie Johnson gave a vocal solo. Reports from the various leagues were read by Dr. W. H. Blancke, Davenport; Ernest Clement , son, Walker Station; August Briss man, Moline; J. H. Hauberg, Grace, Rock Island, and Oscar Johnson, First Swedish, Rock Iland The officers read reports and the various commit tees also gave reports for the past year, showing the tri-city league in a very flourishing and healthy-condition. The league was invited to hold the next annual meeting at St. Paul's church, Davenport, a year hence. " Delrsatrn Arc Ilnnqur-ted. At 6:30 o'clock "the delegates were given a banquet by the entertaining league, and an excellent repast was served. The dinner was followed by a program of toasts, John Mohl acting as toastmaster. Rev'. S. G. Hagglund responded to the toast, "What Is the Chief Object cf Our Meetings?" Miss Phoebe Ahl spoke on "What Good Do We Derive From District and State Conventions?" and O. Lundberg told "How to Increase Church Attend ance." J. B. Oakleaf gave a report of the national convention held in Chi cago, Aug. lt-13, and John H. Noth stein, will give a brief address com memorating the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Christian poet, John Milton, together with reading from his most famous poems. To Tell of Trip. The Brotherhood of the First Meth odist church will be in charge of the services tomorrow evening. The prin cipal address of the evening will be delivered by William McConochie, who will tell of his trip through Europe during the last summer. Special mu sic will also be a feature of the serv ices.
