THE ROCK ISL AND ARGUS 12 FRIDAY, JANUARY 22. 1909, TRIES MURDER AND SUICIDES Galva Young Man Shoots Wife and Mother-in-law and Then Turns Gun on Himself. ' WAS CRAZED BY DRINK Made Search for Other Members of Family Before Ending Own Life Had Domestic Troubles. Galva, III., Jan. 22. (Special.) Af ter wounding his mother-in-law, Mrs. John S. Swanson, and his wife, Albin Boline last night turned the gun v.itti which he had attempted to kill his wife and her mother on himself, and ended his own existence. He was crazed with drink, and apparently his recent domestic troubles were exag gerated as a result of his condition. Mrs. Swanson is in serioti3 condition, and may die. Mrs. Boline, thoush ser iously wounded will ni'ohahlv recover. The two victims of Rhine's revolver were removed today fco a hospital at GalesburR. Mrs. Swanson is about 50 years old, and her daughter is 20. Had Hecn Seiiuratril. Boline and his wife had some domes tic difficulty about three weeks ag., and since then she has been at ths home of her mother, and he has been living with his parents. He was laid off by his employers, and yesterday he went to Kewanee, where he secured a supply of liquor. He returned to Galva and went to the home of his mother-iu-law. He asked to see his child, an J was told that it was at the home of a neighbor. He suddenly became vio lently angry, and turning on Mrs. Swanson, he fired hia revolver at her, the bullet taking effect above the right breast. She sank into a chair, am', Boline fired a second time, the bullet entering the abdomen. Mrs. Boline plead with her husband, and then turned to telephone for a physician. She was at the phone when her hus band shot her, the bullet entering above the right breast. Would Finish Family. Mrs. Boline ran from the house, and carried her mother with her, closing the door on the crazed man. Boline searched the house for his sister-in law and his child, and not finding them, killed himself. The flame from the revolver set Fire to one of the cur tains in a doorway between two rooms. but the fire was extinguished by neigh b'ors, who rushed to the scene cf the tragedy. Mrs. Boline and Mrs. Swan son were found lying on the porch, and the man was found dead in the home. An inquest was held this morning over the remains ,the verdict of, the coroner's jury being suicide. He was 24 years old. The fire started by the gun caused ' a report that Boline had set tire o the house after trying to murder his wife and her mother, but it appoars that the fire was of an accidental char acter instead.
