dirigibles alike fell down in their per

and did not give satisfactory flighfs
until a shower had added the needed
moisture to the air, and Frought an
atmospheric condition resulting in a
better mixture of air and gas for the

MARINE CORPS SHAKEUP
Majority of Officers, Long In Wash
ington, Are Transferred.
Washington, July 20. As a con
sequence of the report of a court
of inquiry that unsatisfactory con
ditions exist in the marine corps,
largely as the result of many of
ficers having been in Washington too
long, the headquarters staff, with
only a few exceptions, has been or
dered to new posts in different parts
of the world. t
Colonel Charles H. Lauchheimer,
headquarters adjutant and inspector,
who requested the appointment of the
court of inquiry, was ordered to the
Philippines. Colonel Frank L. Den
ny, headquarters quartermaster, was
ordered to San Francisco. Just
what, if anything, has happened to
General Elliott, commandant of the
corps, is a matter of uncertainty.

The northwestern exhibit will Include

statistics will not be taken into con

judging. It will be one time when

plebian cattle will enter a contest of
merits on the same ground as cattle
of the aristocracy. Many cases are on
record where urpedigreed cattle have
i shown up better than cattle whose
owners boast of long pedigrees which
go with them. At the northwestern
exhibit the heifer called "Maiden Lane

no better rating than will just "Maude"
or "Middy." And, on the other hand,
"King ' Leopold IV." will be on the
